Galway coffee shops

Oh man, do I love talking about what coffee shops I like in Galway. People even tease me about all the criteria I look at. But here we go, best coffee shops in Galway.

  1. Coffee Club: This is probably my favorite coffee shop. They have the best wifi of anywhere I've been in Galway like Tumblr mobile app doesn't have trouble loading kind of wifi. You also get a little chocolate cookie with any coffee drink you get, which is excellent. I love their mochas (although, admittedly, their americanos aren't great). I also love the amount of space that the place has. I've never had trouble finding a place to sit and I don't think I've even had a a problem finding a place for a writing group to sit. The noise level is also great. It's not so quiet that us talking feels like we're disturbing people, but it's never so loud that I have trouble hearing anybody. Oh and the food! The food is oh so tasty. They don't have a huge menu, but everything they have is very tasty. Admittedly, the downside of Coffee Club is that they close at 4:30.

  1. Corner Cafe: Another great cafe in Galway. They have good wifi and the best lattes I've had in Galway. There is also a little space with a couch which is very comfy if you can manage to snag it. I've had brunch there and it is very tasty with good portion sizes. This is one of the places where you don't pay right away, so that is a bit confusing. I wish this coffee shop was bigger so that it would be an easy place for workshopping, but the size is part of its charm. It's also pretty close to campus which helps a lot.

  1. Lane Cafe: Lane Cafe is in a very busy part of town, but is very tucked away which is quite nice. This doesn't mean that it can't get busy, but again I've always been able to find a spot and I think I've always been able to find a spot for people coming to meet me (although sometimes it was at a weird table height). They have not one, but two wifi networks so you're all set there. They also have a cookie coffee thing that was very sweet, but so tasty. Lane Cafe's biggest downside is probably that they are cash only, but that's okay. They also have the best hours of cafes with wifi in that they close at the earliest at 6pm I think.

  1. Coffeewerk and Press: While this place wouldn't be great for workshopping, it is quite lovely. I had a very tasty mocha there and a tasty cake. They have a lot of things to look at in the cafe from cool art to quirky little gifts to get people. If you're looking for a fun place to go with a friend or date, I'd recommend here. They also have wifi, so never fear!

  1. Java's: Okay so this is the only non-wifi place I think I'm going to recommend. They have a very comfy couch area, which you can usually get if you're willing to sit nearby and wait for your moment to pounce. They have amazing hours in that they're open until midnight or 1am. They have very good lattes and incredibly tasty crepes (both savory and sweet). They are again a place where you have to remember to pay before you leave, which has caused some confusion, but it's always worked out okay.

I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

Now, that may sound like I'm bailing out of my fertility journey, but it's actually the opposite. In order to get everything ready for the egg retrieval, I need to hop on birth control for a little bit and then hop off. It feels a bit odd to be taking oral birth control, have a birth control arm implant, and be getting ready for an egg retrieval--but that's how it goes (for me at least--getting to keep the arm implant is rare or so I'm told). People have asked me how I'm feeling about this round of egg retrieval and honestly, I haven't thought about it much yet. I am focused on a big stressful event for work and then C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo--basically, Chicago's Comic-Con) which I attend every year. Because of these two events (one stressful, one fun), I del...
