Job posting: Official Fan

We seek an Official Fan for our show as well as any spin-offs that may be put under contract. The Official Fan will have a variety of duties.

First and foremost, the Official Fan will help the show's team ensure continuity and consistency throughout the seasons and into any other media that may be licensed (e.g. graphic novels, movies, spin-offs). This will require extreme attention to detail and impeccable record keeping. The Official Fan will be responsible for monitoring the fandom wikipedia. It's important that all details available to fans are accurate. Should any inconsistency pass the Official Fan as well as the rest of the team, the Official Fan will join the writers in coming up with a plausible explanation within the show's universe.

The Official Fan will need to keep track of all characters and actors, regardless of how small the part. Occasionally, the Official Fan will be called upon by the casting director. For example, some characters will be discussed by others before they appear on screen and the Official Fan will need to assist the casting director in finding someone consistent with all previous descriptions.

Research will also be a large part of this role. The Official Fan will be expected to monitor fan forums, including fan fiction sites such as AO3, to see what the fans are asking for. We strive to be a show that gives its fans what they want and so we need to monitor what fans are expecting and what plot points they would like to change. The Official Fan should not be engaging in these conversations as that could sway fans' opinions. However, the Official Fan should be writing monthly reports on fan trends.

Social media will also be a large portion of the Official Fan's duties. The Official Fan should be adept at Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Tumblr and should help direct the content that is posted. The Official Fan should also stay up to date on various trends and memes so that the show's social media can play into those that would work well with the show's tone and fan base.

The Official Fan may also have opportunities to attend conventions with the cast and crew of the show. This would be a great opportunity for the Official Fan to meet with fans as well as to help create forums for the cast and crew that fans would get the most out of.

At times, the Official Fan may also work with the marketing and merchandise departments to design products that fan would like. This ties back in with the research and social media duties of the Official Fan.

We are ideally looking for a team of five or so fans who will need to work together.

Qualities desired:

  • Social media proficiency
  • Online research proficiency
  • Adobe photoshop and meme generation
  • Ability to communicate orally and by text
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience in creating content related to at least one current fandom
  • Knowledge of fandom trends and activities (including conventions)
Please send in a resume, a cover letter, contact information for two references, and an original fan fiction about our show.

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
