We

We tried to think of something new to do with our afternoon. We always did the same thing every weekend. First we met up at Sam's house, it was the most the central, had the most space for all of us, and Sam had the most relaxed parents so they didn't mind a group of teenagers coming over every Saturday morning. Once we were all there, and some of us were always late although who exactly was late varied from time to time, we would raid Sam's kitchen for food and we always found at least some cereal, but usually we found some good pastries as Sam's parents really were the best. During breakfast, we would all try to think of something new to do, but we'd always settle on the same thing: walk to the park, then go by the movie theater and see if there was anything we wanted to see (there never was so we'd just check out the newest movie posters and come up with our own plots for them since we never saw the previews), get lunch at our favorite diner, and then we'd go back to Sam's to watch a movie. Some of us would sleepover from time to time, but not as much as we got older and having co-ed sleepovers became more and more taboo and we all had more and more homework to do besides.

Today we again found ourselves munching on bear claws, donuts, and, for the two quickest of us, eclairs and again we tried to think of what to do. One of us proposed going to the beach, but we decided that it was too cold of a day for that to be any fun and the only other people there would surely be weirdos. Another of us proposed that we check out the new flea market in town but the rest of us said we hadn't brought any money to spare. Someone else suggested we just watch movies all day long, why bother going out? That was met with some encouragement, but we decided that while it was too cold for the beach, it was too nice to spend at least a little time outside. Another suggested maybe this time we try out that burger place on Main Street, but that was really out of our way and we couldn't be sure they had a good vegetarian option for those among us who didn't eat meat and did we really want our one day all together during the week to be filled with a bad meal or, even worse, food poisoning (remember when we tried that new Italian place and all got so sick that we didn't meet tup the next week?). What if this time we just rented a movie instead of relying on Sam's family's stash of movies? Then we'll take forever to decide.

In the end, we did what we always did. But in the end, that was what we all liked best anyhow.

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
