Lauren brainstorm part 2

Okay so I'm going to continue Lauren's story. If you wanna read what I have so far, go here:

If you want to read my previous brainstorm, go here:
http://fifteenminutesofscrawl.blogspot.com/2019/04/lauren-brainstorm.html

Lauren's boss:
  • Overall vibe is a bit Hank Scorpio (please go watch The Simpsons episode with him if you haven't, it's the best)
  • He needs a ridiculous outfit though, still going to do the whole spandex thing (maybe this will be part of Lauren's job, has to be sure it's not inappropriate by HR standards)
  • Things he could possibly want: amass power and have his own country and maybe, eventually the world; radical changes to our energy use; just a lot of money; institute a true meritocracy; isn't sure so he's just amassing power and wealth and will figure it out later (has vague corporate sounding mission statements when asked what his goal is)
  • Lauren doesn't much care what the mission is, it's a good job
  • Has the complex have a uniform, but there are casual Fridays (black corporate wear, very polished, include acceptable hair styles)
  • Inherited the company from his mother who is retired (she perhaps comes to visit), she wished he had been born a girl (maybe also she had a mission, but never revealed it to Lauren's boss or Lauren's boss never understood it which is why he keeps everything vague)
  • Consults with Lauren on what the annual winter holiday gift should be
  • Monitors glassdoor reviews and talks to Lauren and other HR people about them
  • Talks with Lauren about various health-related rewards for employees (like a prize for the division that bikes the most into work or sets up carpools)
  • Appears, at least via video chat, at each employee's birthday party
  • Constantly thinking of rebranding (but doesn't follow through because he always determines his original brand is best)
  • No tattoos
  • Very clean cut
  • Plays golf
  • Loves using corporate jargon and vague new words as well as things like 'synergy' (wants to coin his own, but struggles, but does publish a book with the title as one he thinks is quite good)

15 things you'll think about during your dad's latest hospital stay

This is meant to be a related piece to "15 things to do in your dad's hospital room," "15 Things You Find in Your Dad's Hospice Room," and "15 Things You Find When You Clean Out Your Dad’s Apartment" .  The Christmas lights at the nurse's station that should really have been switched for saccharine cupids by now What team decided to hang up a clearly labeled DRAFT safety sign Who comes up with the aliases they seem to use for trauma patients and how they decided on Redstone for your dad That his skin either looks like a bruised elephant or like sickeningly conflicting colors of thin paper mache Where you can possibly get food--you're shaky The patient in the ER somewhere with a lot of ammo, but no gun, or so they say Why the staff is being so happily loud and swearing...it feels discordant The used bandaid and gauze that are left on the floor of his ER room as he moves to his hospital room...the last proof he was there Having to do this a...

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
