What's the fantastical explanation for why your fingers are always cold?

Here are some fantastical explanations for your cold hands.

  1. And invisible ice dragon is breathing on them. This little dragon thinks he's very fierce, but really he just makes you a bit uncomfortable.
  2. A ghost is holding your hands. You're helping warm up their hands.
  3. Your hands have slipped into another dimension that is much colder.
  4. Your ice powers are awakening, stop warming them up or you'll never reach your full potential.
  5. A witch has cast a curse on you. You will never be as warm as you wish (she is not a very powerful witch).
  6. Someone is practicing magic similar to a voodoo doll on you. They are working their way up to a much more severe form of magic.
  7. Your hands are actually a cryptid. Yes, this is confusing, but their nature makes them run cold.
  8. There was a potion dumped in the city water supply and you just had to wash your hands the same day. Luckily, it was very diluted and you did not lose your hands (as was the potion's intention), but your hand is very cold now and it will be a long time before that changes.
  9. The nail polish you used had the tears of a banshee in them. The coldness of her existence has spread from your nails to your fingers. Pray that it does not spread more.
  10. Your fingers saw Medusa in the mirror. This diluted effect means that your fingers are just cold and not stone.
  11. Fairies are dancing upon them. It would be a delightful site if you could see them.
  12. Your fingers are in a fortune telling trance. Hopefully they can tell you what they've seen.
  13. Your fingers have figured out time travel. But where they have gone, you can't be sure.
  14. Cerberus has set his sites on your fingers. Fingers are his favorite snack and your sense their impending doom.
  15. Your fingers died and became zombies. Hopefully they have a benevolent zombie master.
  16. Your fingers have been cursed by the dancing plague, but it has not begun yet. Right now they are cooling down so that they can sustain as much dancing as possible before they fall off.
  17. Someone is jealous of your writing abilities. They have set a curse upon them, but for now all it does is make you uncomfortable. One day it will take their ability to write. Pen your novel while you still can. You have something that many do not want heard, which means it must be heard.
  18. You walked across too many ancient magic runes. This effect will wear off when you learn your lesson and stop disturbing so many witches' hard, hard work.
  19. Everyone is feeling this. It is an ancient warning buried in our DNA. Heed it.
  20. Your fingers are a normal temperature. The rest of you is too hot. Use your cool fingers to lower your temperature before it's too late.
I hope you enjoyed these. Let me know which was your favorite.

Starting my parental journey, part 2

You can read part 1 here . Yesterday I began the next step of my parental journey. Ironically, it was starting birth control. This medicine helps prepare my ovaries for the egg retrieval process. It was weird taking the pill to prepare for my fertility journey because you typically think of the pill as ensuring you don't get pregnant. Obviously, I'm not getting pregnant now, but I am getting ready for that eventual possibility. There have also been various bureaucratic issues that I've been dealing with. Mostly insurance stuff (as I'm sure comes as no surprise). But, thanks to a new benefit at work that started 1/1/24, my journey will be (mostly) covered. While, again, there were some bureaucratic hurdles that I had to overcome in order for this to all work out, I am immensely glad that it did work out. I am nervous though. In part I'm nervous about a lot of the practicalities of this step in my journey. For instance, I will have to inject myself with various medica...

15 ways to support me on my parental journey

I posted yesterday and in August, 2023 about starting my parental journey. If you're wondering how you can support me, here are some ideas I have at the moment (though these may change and also don't feel pressured to do any of these things). Check in via text or DM so I can respond at my leisure (but please don't be insulted if I take a long time to respond) Help with arranging food for me (I know that when I get overwhelmed, I often have really awful eating habits) Offer to help with apartment chores (I may turn you down, but the offer will mean a lot) Walk Hoban (I realize only some people can do this, but the relief of lightening the responsibility of Hoban will likely be welcome) Be understanding if I have to cancel plans (I hope to still be somewhat social during this time, but I cannot guarantee how I'm going to feel) Drive me to appointments (I have the retrieval itself covered, but I have other appointments that will happen leading up to it so if you have the...
