15 street festivals Chicago should have

So it's possible these exist or something sufficiently similar exists, but here are things I would love to go to.

  1. Chance the Snapper fest. Let him not fade into the past! Let us celebrate him every year with caiman themed food (but not caimans), games, and merch. I would adore this.
  2. Redesign the Chicago flag festival. Now I'm a pretty big fan of the Chicago flag (especially when you compare it to the Illinois flag), but it would be cool to see people do their own take on it.
  3. Large board game festival. Only games allowed are either games meant to be played outside or are like huge versions of games (like human chess). People could make teams or just hop in on random games. There would of course be tons of games on sale and lots of game-themed food and shirts etc.
  4. Reptile festival. It's warm out, let the cold blooded creatures out to play! Teach people that they shouldn't be afraid of an animal just because it's a reptile. There could also be reptile rescues there to find potential adopters for abandoned reptiles. There could also be like a reptile pageant and people could award a best in show prize.
  5. Plant a tree festival. Pretty straight forward, but I think it would be fun and there could also be trees and other plants for sale as well as games that teach about conservation.
  6. Marshmallow festival. There are so many things you can make out of marshmallows and campfire s'mores are such a classic. I think this could just be super delightful.
  7. Pet adoption festival. Just get lots of pets that can be adopted out there and have people who've adopted pets get discounts on the food and games that are there.
  8. Volunteer festival. Learn about a ton of places to volunteer your time and give money to the groups you can.
  9. Get politically involved festival. Again, lots of volunteer opportunities, register to vote, learn about important listservs, and get food with people who are like-minded.
  10. Soap festival. Think of how nice this street would smell. There would be tons of soap sellers, places where you can make soap, and, of course, a foam party.
  11. Water gun festival. Just a gigantic water gun and water balloon fight. You would get assigned a team randomly and execute certain tasks to get prizes.
  12. Bird festival. Bird watching, birds to adopt, birds doing tricks, and lots of feathers.
  13. Baby friendly festival. A festival that is completely geared towards babies and those caring for them. All toys and games would be baby friendly, there would be baby friendly food for sale, and, of course, story times.
  14. Collective mural festival. Essentially a mass group of people making a mural all together (with some level of monitoring and editing if necessary).
  15. Archaeology festival. Let's pick a place to excavate! There would also be sandboxes so kids and those who don't want to follow scientific method can still have the fun of digging stuff up. There would also be speakers who would talk about archaeology and maybe an Indiana Jones screening.

I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

Now, that may sound like I'm bailing out of my fertility journey, but it's actually the opposite. In order to get everything ready for the egg retrieval, I need to hop on birth control for a little bit and then hop off. It feels a bit odd to be taking oral birth control, have a birth control arm implant, and be getting ready for an egg retrieval--but that's how it goes (for me at least--getting to keep the arm implant is rare or so I'm told). People have asked me how I'm feeling about this round of egg retrieval and honestly, I haven't thought about it much yet. I am focused on a big stressful event for work and then C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo--basically, Chicago's Comic-Con) which I attend every year. Because of these two events (one stressful, one fun), I del...
