15 things I want to do this summer

Hey y'all, I need a little bit of a break, so please enjoy another listicle post.

  1. See a movie in the park. I almost went to see Wonder Woman, but then I was too tired. One day though!
  2. Get in the lake. I know the lake is probably pretty cold still, but it's also getting hot, so this should be good soon.
  3. Buy some new dresses. This will be a challenge, but I want some summery dresses that I could also wear to a job interview.
  4. Get a job. I know, I know, this isn't exactly a summery activity, but I really do want it.
  5. Go to St. Louis. I'm cheating a bit here because I'm already going (leaving on the 4th!).
  6. Get some new pen pals. Hint, hint, write me a letter.
  7. Hang out with my nephew. Again, cheating a bit because I already know I'm babysitting him soon, but still!
  8. Go to the zoo. I want to see some animals.
  9. Take puppy for a walk. I've had a few chance, but they haven't really worked out.
  10. Play around in makeup a bit more. One day I'll get good at it, I swear.
  11. Get rid of some stuff. I have too much stuff. I need to do a purge of it before I (at some point) move into my own apartment.
  12. Paint my nails. Summer is the fun time when you can actually show off a pedicure.
  13. Go to some kind of food festival. It doesn't have to exclusively be about food, but I want to go to one where there is food. This is one of the things that is great about Chicago in the summer, so many festivals.
  14. Get a Medici mocha. For those who don't know, this is coffee with ice cream in it.
  15. Get some ice cream. The best summer treat.
What are you looking forward to this summer?

I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

Now, that may sound like I'm bailing out of my fertility journey, but it's actually the opposite. In order to get everything ready for the egg retrieval, I need to hop on birth control for a little bit and then hop off. It feels a bit odd to be taking oral birth control, have a birth control arm implant, and be getting ready for an egg retrieval--but that's how it goes (for me at least--getting to keep the arm implant is rare or so I'm told). People have asked me how I'm feeling about this round of egg retrieval and honestly, I haven't thought about it much yet. I am focused on a big stressful event for work and then C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo--basically, Chicago's Comic-Con) which I attend every year. Because of these two events (one stressful, one fun), I del...
