15 things I saw at the MCA

Today my mo m and I took a quick trip to the MCA. Fun fact, it's free for IL residents on Tuesdays.

  1. A farmer's market. Now this was outside the MCA, but it was cool to see.
  2. Really cool hanging lanterns with plants coming off of them.
  3. An exhibit about the works of Virgil Abloh.
  4. A very cool netting thing that goes from the very top of the museum to the very bottom. I thought it was beautiful and it's an easy way to link all of the floors together.
  5. An artistic mixing of a photo of Michael Jordon and a painting of the crucifixion of Jesus.
  6. Three seconds of Michael Jordon celebrating a slam dunk played in a loop so that it looks like an endless scream.
  7. A really great summer camp for preteen boys that included counselors who were able to really engage the boys in the artwork.
  8. A 3D rendition of the photograph of Gordon, an ex-slave.
  9. A large cutout of a version of the Hulk in black to challenge what people perceive as a monstrous form.
  10. Photos of an inked hand of an unidentified stabbing victim.
  11. Etchings of word by Zora Neale Hurston and Ralph Ellison that play on the idea of being seen and unseen.
  12. Comfy seats positioned on the concrete steps.
  13. A terrace with a gorgeous view.
  14. A group of super tiny children on a field trip.
  15. A sign letting visitors know where gender inclusive bathrooms were.
