Little Mary May
was having a lovely day
for she had just gotten a new kitten with which to play.
In an instant the new kitten did pounce
on Mary May's bird that didn't even weigh an ounce.
And that poor bird, the kitten did trounce.
Mary May's mother and sister found the salesman
who had sold them the feline devil's kinsman.
He agreed to take back the cat and then ran.
To calm all of their hearts,
they decided to find comfort in some arts
by picking flowers and then baking some tarts.
they all managed not to wear a frown
when they heard Papa coming home from town.
