- The Illinois Prison Project has created a form where incarcerated people’s loved ones who are willing to have them return to their homes can submit information about their loved one and their living situation to be shared with the Illinois Department of Corrections and possibly other organizations and government agencies. The objective of gathering and sharing this information is to help ensure that if a possibility that a person could be released as part of efforts to stop COVID-19 from spreading in prisons arises, IDOC will know an incarcerated person has somewhere to go. The Illinois Prison Project cautions that most people will not be released from prison, and even if some people do have the opportunity for release, there are likely to be other limitations in addition to housing.
