Thoughts on Secret Celebrity RuPaul's Drag Race season 1, episode 4

I can't believe they're only making four of these!

  1. VANJIE
  2. Could they get the Kardashians?
  3. I do feel like they could've gotten some bigger names...
  4. Sorry, Phoebe Robinson, I don't know you
  5. I also don't know who Madison Beer is
  6. I also don't know who Hayley Kiyoko is
  7. I am just not up on pop culture
  8. Alyssa is very fun when she appears on this show
  9. I love that Monique Heart embraces the brown cow thing
  10. Vanjie's outfit is bizarre to me
  11. Okay braiding isn't difficult...
  12. I would have no idea how to put a wig on
  13. "Oh I didn't Wikipedia it at all"
  14. I feel like Hayley is missing the timing of some of these jokes
  15. Phoebe is doing the best, but she is also a comedian so that makes sense
  16. Okay for this challenge I would grab Alyssa because she is a dance teacher
  17. It did seem like Vanjie wanted to be with Hayley
  18. Huh I hadn't thought about how female comics might be encouraged to downplay their femininity because women aren't thought of as funny
  19. Cocotini is fun
  20. Aw it's sweet that Madison wants to win for her grandpa
  21. Coral Fixation is great name
  22. I thought Hayley was talking about Elizabeth I, but nope
  23. Queen Eleza Beth is fun
  24. Alyssa's reaction to Phoebe talking about wedges is hilarious
  25. I feel like someone telling me I'm overthinking would just make me overthink more
  26. (RED) donation page
  27. Aw Hayley, I want to hug you
  28. Planned Parenthood donation page
  29. The Trevor Project donation page
  30. Okay the category of 'Queen for a Day' highly favors the newbie whose name has Queen in it
  31. Madison doesn't sound good now...
  32. Alyssa is horrified at this choreography
  33. Coral is loving herself
  34. Queen does look fierce
  35. Cocotini loves it
  36. Pretty sure you've made queens do a girl group before, so I don't think this is a first
  37. Wait so are the queens supreme just pretending to play instruments
  38. Cocotini's outfit is not my favorite, but I think the show picked them cause they all match
  39. Queen is having so much fun and I love it because she seemed to not be having fun before
  40. Coral's giant wig makes the rest of her look even tinier than it already is
  41. Okay so I heard on Drag Her that another set of queens do the runway makeup and I really wish we could see them
  42. Cocotini's runway look is A-MA-ZING HOLY SHIT
  43. Queen is totally embracing her look and it's precious
  44. Monique's dress is incredible!
  45. Coral's look is a combo of Jan's spring look from S12E2 and Widow's look from the Ball Ball episode
  46. They never stop with puns on this show
  47. I did think Coral would be more aquatic themed, but I guess the outfits are probably picked beforehand
  48. I think they all did well on the lip sync
  49. I am glad that Queen won because I think this experience meant the most to her
  50. I hope they do another season of this!

Starting my parental journey, part 2

You can read part 1 here . Yesterday I began the next step of my parental journey. Ironically, it was starting birth control. This medicine helps prepare my ovaries for the egg retrieval process. It was weird taking the pill to prepare for my fertility journey because you typically think of the pill as ensuring you don't get pregnant. Obviously, I'm not getting pregnant now, but I am getting ready for that eventual possibility. There have also been various bureaucratic issues that I've been dealing with. Mostly insurance stuff (as I'm sure comes as no surprise). But, thanks to a new benefit at work that started 1/1/24, my journey will be (mostly) covered. While, again, there were some bureaucratic hurdles that I had to overcome in order for this to all work out, I am immensely glad that it did work out. I am nervous though. In part I'm nervous about a lot of the practicalities of this step in my journey. For instance, I will have to inject myself with various medica...

15 ways to support me on my parental journey

I posted yesterday and in August, 2023 about starting my parental journey. If you're wondering how you can support me, here are some ideas I have at the moment (though these may change and also don't feel pressured to do any of these things). Check in via text or DM so I can respond at my leisure (but please don't be insulted if I take a long time to respond) Help with arranging food for me (I know that when I get overwhelmed, I often have really awful eating habits) Offer to help with apartment chores (I may turn you down, but the offer will mean a lot) Walk Hoban (I realize only some people can do this, but the relief of lightening the responsibility of Hoban will likely be welcome) Be understanding if I have to cancel plans (I hope to still be somewhat social during this time, but I cannot guarantee how I'm going to feel) Drive me to appointments (I have the retrieval itself covered, but I have other appointments that will happen leading up to it so if you have the...
