Still another 15 minutes of D&D brainstorming

I have another session coming up on Friday! I don't think my party reads my blog. If you do--STOP IT! I'm also just going to copy and paste my last blog post here so I can have all of the second room information in the same place.

  • Second room
    • Here is where there are dormitories.
      • 10 sleep guards. 15 sets of basic gear in here. Longsword (only 10), 10 silver, a map of the area, a bottle of ink, an ink pen, a lamp, 2 flasks of oil, 5 sheets of paper, a vial of perfume, sealing wax, and soap, studded leather (only 10).
      • Scholar's things: 10 gold, a map of the area, 5 bottles of ink, 2 ink pens, a lamp, 5 flasks of oil, 50 sheets of paper, 2 vials of perfume, sealing wax, and soap
      • Locked room. The door is filled with holes about the size of a dagger blade. When a dagger is inserted into a hole, it makes a specific and unique tone. You have to play the first bar of the national anthem to enter. Royal blood also opens it.
    • Sleeping scholar on a plush red velvet chaise. She's a beautiful Elven woman with long flowing blonde hair and delicate features. She is positioned comfortably on the chaise and covered with a warm woolen blanket.
      • Has key to the bookshelves on her person.
      • Holding book on genealogy of the royal line written in Elven. It makes mention of some bastard lines but does not deign to go into detail
      • Has hidden book written in infernal of prophecies. One of which foretells a great civil war based on blood. There is other writing discussing if this has happened already, but the book's author believes it hasn't
    • Two guards sitting comfortably in plush red velvet chairs. They too have blankets draped over them.
    • Shelves and shelves of books written in all languages. Many books have fallen off the shelves but are held in order by chains. This is common practice in a library to chain books for protection but it does seem a bit odd here as there would only be the visiting scholar. The room is filled with the smell of leather, paper and ink. There are no windows in this room. Just walls covered with books.
    • In the center of the room, there's a marble pedestal with a cute little rabbit sculpture on it. It does nothing, but if the characters ever all look away from it at once (like if they're leaving), it roars and shakes the room. It is roaring until one of them looks at it. Royal blood will calm it as will them holding it (because they have royal blood)
      • While it is roaring and shaking the room, characters have disadvantage on all checks etc. because they are distracted
    • Door to the next room: it says: "Show me only knowledge" in large letters. It has no lock or handle on it. Large enough that each letter is roughly the size of their hand. In order to open it, they have to cover up the other words. It also opens with royal blood.
  • Third room:
    • More rows of chained books shelves. In this room there is no light.
    • A large red gem smeared with blood is at the center of the room

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...

15 things you'll think about during your dad's latest hospital stay

This is meant to be a related piece to "15 things to do in your dad's hospital room," "15 Things You Find in Your Dad's Hospice Room," and "15 Things You Find When You Clean Out Your Dad’s Apartment" .  The Christmas lights at the nurse's station that should really have been switched for saccharine cupids by now What team decided to hang up a clearly labeled DRAFT safety sign Who comes up with the aliases they seem to use for trauma patients and how they decided on Redstone for your dad That his skin either looks like a bruised elephant or like sickeningly conflicting colors of thin paper mache Where you can possibly get food--you're shaky The patient in the ER somewhere with a lot of ammo, but no gun, or so they say Why the staff is being so happily loud and swearing...it feels discordant The used bandaid and gauze that are left on the floor of his ER room as he moves to his hospital room...the last proof he was there Having to do this a...
