A secretive conversation takes place in a horse drawn carriage

"Can the driver hear us?"

"I doubt it over the horses."

"Still."

"Driver!"

"..."

"See? I told you."

"We still best be careful."

"I'm not an idiot, you know."

"That is yet to be proven."

"Harsh."

"I prefer accurate."

"Regardless, are you ready?"

"What kind of question is that?"

"I thought one in need of an immediate answer."

"I think it one without an answer."

"If you're not ready, it can be postponed."

"No, it cannot."

"..."

"You know I'm right."

"We can find another time."

"This is the best time. People will be distracted at the ball."

"But there will also be many people at the ball."

"We agreed that was best."

"I suppose, but we could always revisit that conversation."

"A little late for that I should think."

"It's not too late until it's done."

"Are you ready?"

"I believe I was the one who asked you that."

"Yes, but my task is small--"

"Hardly small. It carries the greatest weight with it."

"Yes but my task is for this evening alone and--"

"You might find it carries beyond that."

"Regardless. Your task, should we succeed, won't end until your death. However timely or not it may be."

"Let's hope timely."

"I am not joking."

"Nor I."

"But are you ready? Are you ready for the change this will bring?"

"Beyond."

"I wish you sounded more confident."

"I do not know what you wish to hear from me. I am ready for the change, I am ready for this to be over, I am ready."

"Now you're starting to sound more like him."

"Please don't say that."

"It was meant as a compliment."

"Clearly I do not take it as such."

"Should we go over things again?"

"If you wish. You are the one who has still not answered if you're ready."

"I will get close to him by flirting with his guards--"

"Remember to be a flirt at the party as a whole, your flirting should not stand out."

"We've spent time building up my reputation as such if you recall."

"Yes, you have caught his eye already, haven't you?"

"You say that with mockery yet it was you who encouraged it."

"I did, but--"

"No buts, I shall not have you demeaning my part in this."

"All right, sister, I shall stop trying to lighten the mood."

"Please."

"..."

"My time with him should be brief, however flirtatious it may be."

"Yes."

"The goal of which is to give him a sip from my own cup."

"One that people have seen you drinking out of."

"Yes."

"This will raise some eyebrows as it will be quite the intimate gesture."

"Yes, but hopefully not too many."

"No, some other ladies shall surely get him to do the same."

"Not such an intimate gesture then is it?"

"No it remains intimate, he is just a cad."

"And then my job is done."

"Yes, be seen carrying on and such throughout the night and I will be as well."

"Of course, brother."

"..."

"..."

"And you have his dose ready?"

"Yes."

"And yours, just in case?"

"Yes. Do you have yours?"

"Yes."

"Good."

"All right then. Let's poison the king."

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
