More D&D brainstorming in 15 minutes

I have another session coming up on Friday! I don't think my party reads my blog. If you do--STOP IT! I'm going to copy and paste my last post so I can build on it.

  • Have them head to Mt. Canoch
    • Mt. Canoch is a volcanic mountain that dominates the landscape. Its sharp crags create dramatic views. Some climb it for daring or for the beauty you can see form it, but it is a dangerous climb. Not only is it hard to climb, but it is said that many creatures live on and within the mountain and should not be disturbed.
    • On way: come home, Spike encounter
      • Help a giant child find his lost pet
      • Ultimately, they have to convince him to leave the pet alone and that she will return
      • Pet is a basilisk: A basilisk is a multilegged, reptilian horror whose deadly gaze transforms victims into porous stone. With its strong jaws, the creature consumes this stone, which returns to organic form in its gullet.
    • Find a small village besieged by some creatures
      • The Village of Canoch often does trade with Baile (DC 15 history to see if they've heard of them before) as they don't have a lot. They are mostly farmers, but there is a baker in town. The air is fresh and clean and there are spectacular views of Mt. Canoch. You can imagine that it would be hard not to live in awe of this mountain if it so dominated your skyline every day.
      • Immediately upon entering the village, a DC 10 perception will show that the town is freshly saddened and worried
      • No tavern in town, but people will gather in the center of town where there is a memorial to those lost to the firenewts (Nature DC 15 to see if they've heard of them)
      • In the center of town they'll find the town leader (the rest of the town is wary of outsiders coming to their village as why would anyone come? They're not even on most maps. So, they'll direct people to the leader): Alenia Yesbella. Alenia is an elf with dark brown skin and a shaved head. She wears beautiful obsidian jewelry that, with a DC 18 investigation will be revealed to be sharp enough to use as weapons. She is very willing to receive help but is somewhat suspicious of who would seek to help them. She complains that the crown does not care for them and would not even see her.
      • The newest captives were taken while everyone slept. The village is lucky that they only wanted a handful of sacrifices. The names of the missing elves are: Ayda Luhana, Theoden Krisrie, Folen Holaleth, Lorsan Virris, and Vianola Yesbella (Alenia's wife)
    • Must defeat the creatures and free captives
      • Creatures are firenewts: In regions that contain hot springs, volcanic activity, or similar hot and wet conditions, firenewts might be found. These humanoid amphibians live in a militaristic theocracy that reveres elemental fire in its worst incarnation.
      • The firenewts captured villagers for sacrifices to Imix, the prince god of evil fire
      • The firenewts have the villagers guarded in cages by 3 firenewt warriors
      • The firenewts cannot be reasoned with as they are zealots of Imix
      • As they flee, they are attacked by two firenewt warlocks
      • Get reward: supplies for their journey and the support of the village should they choose to make a bid for the crown
  • Town of Graig
    • Should ask around about the sleeping spell
    • Similar to Baile, but smaller
      • Similar layout, but much smaller travelling merchant section, only one tavern
    • Town was warned about the spell, but don't know what it was for
      • Rumors say that one person was awake but he's not talking
      • Have to talk to several patrons to find out where thi
    • Only one person in town was a bastard, but they didn't want to go
      • Convinced that he would be killed
      • Paranoid
      • Thinks the plague that wiped out a lot of the royal family was poisonings (they were, but this is not known)
      • Hesitant to talk to the adventurers
    • Look more into the tavern adventures I downloaded
    • Job board (have them pick then go deeper)
      • The inn is being haunted. Items are flying off shelves and moving by themselves. The party investigates... at the root. A malicious spellcaster telekinesis using a Crystal Ball
      • A local musician plays a song every night to keep an angry beast at bay. The musician goes missing. If the townsfolk cannot find a replacement to play the soothing toon by nightfall, the entire town will be in danger.
      • The players must infiltrate an illegal dice casino run by a Goblin Mob. They will need to find a set of "magical dice" to defeat the goblin kingpin at its own game

Starting my parental journey, part 9

I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

Starting my parental journey, part 8

You can  read part 1 here ,  read part 2 here ,  read part 3 here ,  read part 4 here ,  read part 5 here , read part 6 here , and read part 7 here . I have begun birth control again. Now, that may sound like I'm bailing out of my fertility journey, but it's actually the opposite. In order to get everything ready for the egg retrieval, I need to hop on birth control for a little bit and then hop off. It feels a bit odd to be taking oral birth control, have a birth control arm implant, and be getting ready for an egg retrieval--but that's how it goes (for me at least--getting to keep the arm implant is rare or so I'm told). People have asked me how I'm feeling about this round of egg retrieval and honestly, I haven't thought about it much yet. I am focused on a big stressful event for work and then C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo--basically, Chicago's Comic-Con) which I attend every year. Because of these two events (one stressful, one fun), I del...
