15 things to do in light of Roe v. Wade being overturned

These are in addition to my much longer post. Please add to it.

  1. If you live in a state that has protected abortion rights, contact your governor to urge them to say that your state will not cooperate with other states' investigations into those seeking and those providing abortions (I know that at least the New Jersey and California governors have already made such statements).   2. If you live in a state that does not have protected abortion rights, contat your state reps and governor to urge them to protect abortion rights and strike down restrictive legislation. Here's how to know if your state has protected abortions rights.   3. Find a protest or other event here or here
  4. Contact your representative and senators and encourage them to: 
    1. Restrain judicial review
    2. Expand the court
    3. Build clinics on federal lands
    4. Expand education and access to Plan C
    5. Repeal the Hyde Amendment
    6. Hold floor votes codifying Griswold, Obergefell, Lawrence, and Loving
    7. Vote on Escobar’s bill protecting clinics
    8. Impeach the justices who lied under oath
    9. Vote YES for the Women’s Health Protection Act (senators only)
  5. Contact Biden and encourage him to:
    1. Restrain judicial review
    2. Expand the court
    3. Build clinics on federal lands
    4. Expand education and access to Plan C
    5. Repeal the Hyde Amendment
    6. Establish a reproductive health ombudsman at the Department of Health and Human Services (more info here)
    7. Enforce “Free Choice of Provider” requirements (more info here)
    8. Clarify protections for sensitive health and location data (more info here)
  6. Share posts by the Center for Reproductive Rights and others
  7. Share how to get Plan C
  8. Feel open to sharing your abortion story? Share it to spread awareness and decrease stigma
  9. Encourage people to delete their period tracking apps as the data in them could be used against them if they obtain an abortion
  10. Sign up to get action information from the ACLU
  11. Read and share these facts from Amnesty International
  12. If you're in California, contact your state reps to support the package of 13 bills designed to ease access to abortion and reduce the costsHere's how to contact your state rep.

Starting my parental journey, part 9

I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

Now, that may sound like I'm bailing out of my fertility journey, but it's actually the opposite. In order to get everything ready for the egg retrieval, I need to hop on birth control for a little bit and then hop off. It feels a bit odd to be taking oral birth control, have a birth control arm implant, and be getting ready for an egg retrieval--but that's how it goes (for me at least--getting to keep the arm implant is rare or so I'm told). People have asked me how I'm feeling about this round of egg retrieval and honestly, I haven't thought about it much yet. I am focused on a big stressful event for work and then C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo--basically, Chicago's Comic-Con) which I attend every year.
