15 first lines to a romantic story

Inspired by my previous post "15 first lines to a scary story" which was prompted by Eleanor Pratt.

  1. Fake dating had always seemed, well, fake, but here he was.
  2. Warmth spread through her, but whether it was from the fire, the wine, or his smile, she couldn't say.
  3. Finally, he saw her.
  4. Her laugh, while a high-pitched cackle to most, sounded lyrical to her love.
  5. The kiss left her hazy, but, after all, so did decent wine.
  6. As she examined her nails, she wondered what else--besides her computer screen--they'd look good clawing.
  7. The last place she expected to have a meet-cute was in med school over a cadaver.
  8. Curled up on a soft patch of clover, she looked up at the stars, swaddled in light clouds, and wondered if they could point her to true love.
  9. The dogs quickly tangled their leashes together, mimicking the way that their people's lives would become entangled just a month from now.
  10. As her tea sloshed over her freshly dry-cleaned white button-up on a way to her first day at her new job, she thought "Yeah, that figures."
  11. Her heart hadn't pounded like this since the swamp tour boat began taking on water after coming upon the largest gator in New Orleans.
  12. The aroma of lilacs filled the soft, spring air.
  13. She let the decadent chocolate melt on her tongue before answering.
  14. The camera flashed, perfectly freezing the first time they laid eyes on each other.
  15. Rose instinctively picked at the lace constricting her waist as she wondered if she was ready.

(Prompt by me, but also sort of Eleanor Pratt)

I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

Starting my parental journey, part 8

Now, that may sound like I'm bailing out of my fertility journey, but it's actually the opposite. In order to get everything ready for the egg retrieval, I need to hop on birth control for a little bit and then hop off. It feels a bit odd to be taking oral birth control, have a birth control arm implant, and be getting ready for an egg retrieval--but that's how it goes (for me at least--getting to keep the arm implant is rare or so I'm told). People have asked me how I'm feeling about this round of egg retrieval and honestly, I haven't thought about it much yet. I am focused on a big stressful event for work and then C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo--basically, Chicago's Comic-Con) which I attend every year. Because of these two events (one stressful, one fun), I del...
