15 reasons to vote for Brandon Johnson

Please vote, my fellow Chicagoans. Also, I got a lot of this information from the "Girl, I Guess" voter guide. These are in no particular order.

  1. Johnson has CTU on his side whereas Vallas has failed public schools everywhere he's gone
  2. Vallas has said he was more of a republican whereas Johnson is a progressive
  3. Johnson has been endorsed by progressives like Sanders and Warren
  4. Johnson actually has a plan for disability justice
  5. Unlike Vallas, Johnson has not spoken at events with FOP President John Catanzara, who is a Q-Anon conspiracy theorist and a bigot. Vallas later “welcomed” the endorsement of Catanzara and the FOP
  6. "Vallas regularly hangs out with right-wing bigots". Johnson does not
  7. Along that line, Vallas claims to be "A Champion for the LGBTQ Community" but this is clearly false: "Vallas was a featured speaker at an Awake Illinois fundraiser. This group leads the mostly suburban, homophobic and transphobic movement to censor books in school libraries and take over local school boards. They even called Illinois Governor JB Pritzker “a groomer.” First downplaying the controversy, Vallas eventually denounced Awake Illinois – but only after helping raise money for their cause"
  8. "Vallas is supported by billionaires and mega-millionaires, many of whom are prominent Republican donors, and otherwise bad people"
  9. Vallas seems to live in Chicago in name only. Johnson actually lives here
  10. Vallas seems to hate Chicago. "Vallas’ Facebook Page ‘Liked’ Comments Calling Chicago A ‘Hell Hole’ And ‘S—cago’"
  11. Similarly, "Vallas’ Twitter account liked offensive, racist posts." While he denies he did this, it is certainly cause for concern
  12. Vallas (confusingly IMO) wants to keep schools open on the weekends without (as far as I can tell) a clear plan on how to do so
  13. "In Chicago, Vallas fostered the pension crisis taxpayers are paying for today"
  14. Johnson has served as an elected official before, Vallas has not
  15. Vallas claims to be "Solidly, Consistently Pro-Choice" yet he has said he fundamentally opposes abortion

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately.
