A Christmas tree befriends the ornaments on its branches

"Oh aren't you lovely!" said the tree to the clear glass ornament. "Look how you shine." The tree was glad to have its first ornament placed. It had been feeling naked without any on its branches, though the lights had helped the tree feel warmer.

"Thanks, I was afraid that I was only refelcting the lights," admitted the clear glass ornament. The clear glass ornament seemed shaky on accepting the tree's words.

The tree could not believe this. The clear glass ornament was delicately beuatiful on its own and was only enhanced by the glittering lights. "You make the lights shine brighter! Just because you collaborate in your beauty, doesn't dampen it," replied the tree.

The clear glass ornament shone even brighter. It was proud to work with the lights and the tree to create beauty.

Soon, another ornament joined the tree. It was a pirate alligator with a sparkly hat and peg leg.

"You're so fun!" said the tree to the pirate alligator ornament. "You bring joy to all who look at you."

The pirate alligator ornament was complimented and replied, "Thank you! I thought I was too weird to go up." The pirate alligator ornament seemed still seemed unsure, but hopeful.

"Not at all, you make the tree more dynamic." The tree truly believed this. The tree could see other trees from its place by the window and none of them had a pirate alligator ornament with a sparkly hat and peg leg. This was truly an honor to host the pirate alligator ornament.

The pirate alligator ornament took its place on the tree proudly. It learned that, yes, being unique was an asset, not something to hate.

Then, another ornament was placed. It was a sprig of holly, made out of ceramics and glaxed to perfection.

"You're so festive!" the tree said to the holly ornament. "What a classic!"

"I appreciate that," said the holly ornament, "I was afraid that I was too basic." The holly ornament seemed shy, but open to hearing a genuine compliment.

"Not at all!" replied the tree, "Classics are classic for a reason." Yes, other trees had holly ornaments, but what was wrong with that? They were all lovely and just because there were others that looked like the holly ornament before this tree, didn't mean that its beauty was in any way diminished.

The holly ornament was delighted to take its place on the tree. It felt happy to bring a classic touch of cheer to the ornament.

One by one the tree welcomed the ornaments, giving a unique compliment to each and then introducing them to each other. The tree was happy to host such a wonderful bunch of ornaments. They were all gorgeous in their own way and were able to bond with other ornaments no matter how different they were. It was the perfect way to kick off the holidays.

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
