15 minutes of narrowing my 15 new D&D one shot teaser ideas

Here is my full list. Did I not beef up your favorite? Let me know!

2. The "chosen one" has gone missing

Recently, the Evokados Ceremony has taken place and the new spiritual leader, said to bring about a golden age in the kingdom, was chosen by a set of symbolic trials. However, this new leader is a young child who is now nowhere to be seen. The first step will be to talk to the aging spiritual leader, said to be a great seer, or to talk to the child's parents. I imagine this one to be a bit of a cat-and-mouse game filled with puzzles and tough decision-making, ultimately making the party wonder what is the right course of action for this child and whether or not the child should be found or is even still alive.

5. Night has come to a kingdom that only experiences day...what or who comes with it?

The Ghrian Kingdom has only known day for centuries. The Time of Night is an ancient tale meant to scare the kingdom's children. However, it begins to get less bright and less bright and less bright. Much of the kingdom evacuates to a nearby island where the sun does not seem to be setting, but not all make the boats and the party has been hired to stay behind and investigate what happens. I imagine there will be some horror elements to this and a mystery vibe to it. The question will be what does happen with night and what should, if anything, be done about it.

8. The party is caught in a time loop leading to a mine explosion

The adventuring party, all natives to a mining town known to worship a time god, already knows each other and is a few drinks deep at their favorite local tavern when it explodes. Suddenly, they are walking through the door again, roughly two hours earlier. No one else seems effected, but, if they do nothing, two hours later, the explosion happens again and yet again they return to the entrance to the tavern. Ultimately, the party must figure out what is causing the time loop and how to break it without the mining town being obliterated.

10. Faeries have begun stealing children at a rapid pace

Faeries have always stolen children. This is known. But their demands are rapidly increasing. It used to be just at the change of seasons, the faeries would take a few for their own or, at least, for their own purposes. However, leading up to this fall equinox, children have been disappearing at least once per week. Parents cling to their remaining children, but this does not seem to prevent the stealing. First steps will include interrogating a believed changeling in town.

13. A new family member from an estranged side of the family has shown up at the door, asking for aid

The somewhat strained family is sitting down for the weekly family meal when a knock at the door breaks the silence. On the other side is a man who bears a striking resemblance to members of the family. He claims to be from an estranged side of the family that long ago immigrated to another kingdom. However, he says he has found himself destitute for daring to go against the family on an important political matter and begs for sanctuary. Regardless of what the family decides to do, strange happenings begin in town after this disturbance. Has this member brought a curse with him or is he himself the curse?

Starting my parental journey, part 2

You can read part 1 here . Yesterday I began the next step of my parental journey. Ironically, it was starting birth control. This medicine helps prepare my ovaries for the egg retrieval process. It was weird taking the pill to prepare for my fertility journey because you typically think of the pill as ensuring you don't get pregnant. Obviously, I'm not getting pregnant now, but I am getting ready for that eventual possibility. There have also been various bureaucratic issues that I've been dealing with. Mostly insurance stuff (as I'm sure comes as no surprise). But, thanks to a new benefit at work that started 1/1/24, my journey will be (mostly) covered. While, again, there were some bureaucratic hurdles that I had to overcome in order for this to all work out, I am immensely glad that it did work out. I am nervous though. In part I'm nervous about a lot of the practicalities of this step in my journey. For instance, I will have to inject myself with various medica...

15 ways to support me on my parental journey

I posted yesterday and in August, 2023 about starting my parental journey. If you're wondering how you can support me, here are some ideas I have at the moment (though these may change and also don't feel pressured to do any of these things). Check in via text or DM so I can respond at my leisure (but please don't be insulted if I take a long time to respond) Help with arranging food for me (I know that when I get overwhelmed, I often have really awful eating habits) Offer to help with apartment chores (I may turn you down, but the offer will mean a lot) Walk Hoban (I realize only some people can do this, but the relief of lightening the responsibility of Hoban will likely be welcome) Be understanding if I have to cancel plans (I hope to still be somewhat social during this time, but I cannot guarantee how I'm going to feel) Drive me to appointments (I have the retrieval itself covered, but I have other appointments that will happen leading up to it so if you have the...
