I recently purchased The Ultimate RPG Game Master's Worldbuilding Guide: Prompts and Activities to Create and Customize Your Own Game World by James D'Amato and it, and going whale watching, inspired me to create a new D&D world. So here we go! I'm going to use prompts from the book to begin crafting this world, but not all posts will be from there.

Notes on the islands
- The western islands are smaller and closer together
- Some have very small populations of under 500
- The eastern islands are larger and farther apart
- Some have large populations of over 10,000
- Eastern islands more commonly have lighthouses
- One island per god (22 islands)
- Each island takes on some characteristics of their patron deity (e.g. the deity's holiday is more important on that island, the deity's domain may be reflected in specialty businesses on the island)
- Some have very small populations of under 500
- Some have large populations of over 10,000
- One sunken island for the fae
- The four largest islands are named for the four primary deities, but other than that, size does not compare to the importance of a deity in the pantheon
- However, it does correspond somewhat to how many people focus on the deity as the deity that the island is named for is seen as the patron deity of that island
- Climate is similar to that of Ireland
- Never gets bitterly cold or scorching hot, but there is a range of temperatures
- Lots of green due to lots of rain
- Some animals to hunt on the island for food
- Climate is suitable for farming
- Waters are quite choppy between the islands
- Whales are in the sea and are admired greatly
- They are not hunted, but if one washes up dead, its body is used in many ways (food, candles, etc.)
- Fishing is a common way to eat and other seafood (shellfish, seaweed, etc.) are common in the diets of this world
- Fresh water is found in wells and some larger islands have ponds or lakes and rain water is collected for farming and bathing as well
- Some larger islands have mountainous hills (not sure the definition of when a hill becomes a mountain tbh so not sure if they are really mountains or just really big hills)
- I do not think that I will be making sea currents make sense for travel and just pretend that things can be kept consistent
- I will be using Inkarnate to make my map
