Thoughts on RuPaul's Drag Race, season 17, episode 1

Season premiere!

  1. Wow what an unhinged opening
  2. Lexi is giving showgirl and I'm here for it
  3. Joella banging her gong with her hair--j'adore
  4. Kori's hair is everything (also how cool that she is a visual artist as well!)
  5. Lydia has cool vibes but out of drag looks like a BABY
  6. Arrietty is funny right away
  7. Jewels is adorable
  8. Lana is GORGEOUS!
  9. Sam's look is fun
  10. Onya has a great laugh
  11. Suzie has very clear inspirations
  12. Hormona unfortunately reminds me of the queen who shall not be named
  13. Crystal has attitude and I love it
  14. Acacia does not have my favorite look, but gotta love being inspired by Dolly
  15. Lucky's look is awesome
  16. Jewels (I think? I'm still learning the queens) is sharing her trauma early...is she going home early?
  17. Lucky also sharing her trauma early...
  18. Ru's outfit has great movement
  19. I want Acacia to watch Hot Frosty
  20. Joella is gorgeous
  21. Jewels's look is lovely
  22. Arrietty's look is INCREDIBLE
  23. I really liked Lydia's look
  24. Lucky's look is so silly and fun
  25. Suzie's look is glittery and fun
  26. Kori looks fabulous but I wish the mask had stayed on a bit longer
  27. Hormona's look is fun
  28. Crystal's mask might be my favorite
  29. Lexi is great at branding
  30. Lana is a fabulous feline
  31. Onya's look is great, but again, I wish the mask stayed on longer
  32. Sam's cloud is great but I want it to be a bit more of a mask instead of a hat
  33. Jewels's act was quite good
  34. Arrietty can really work that skirt, but her runway was better
  35. I loved Lydia's act
  36. Lucky's act was great
  37. Joella is a great dancer and Katy Perry trying to copy her was hilarious
  38. I really liked Acacia's act
  39. Is Suzie really doing the Gettysburg Address in Morse code? It doesn't really matter, but I'm curious
  40. Wait we don't get the judges' views? (Nevermind, we do)
  41. Not surprised Acacia is in the bottom, but I enjoyed her act
  42. I did not see Suzie winning tbh
  43. Next time is the talent show, part 2!
  44. Next time is the first elimination!
  45. Can't wait!

I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

Now, that may sound like I'm bailing out of my fertility journey, but it's actually the opposite. In order to get everything ready for the egg retrieval, I need to hop on birth control for a little bit and then hop off. It feels a bit odd to be taking oral birth control, have a birth control arm implant, and be getting ready for an egg retrieval--but that's how it goes (for me at least--getting to keep the arm implant is rare or so I'm told). People have asked me how I'm feeling about this round of egg retrieval and honestly, I haven't thought about it much yet. I am focused on a big stressful event for work and then C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo--basically, Chicago's Comic-Con) which I attend every year. Because of these two events (one stressful, one fun), I del...
