15 movie versions of A Christmas Carol

So, if you don't know, I LOVE A Christmas Carol. For this post, I had to do some digging, but I was confident that there have been at least 15 movie versions of this holiday classic (and I definitely found a list of 73 of them, but it's important to note that one of those 73 was Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo).

  1. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)--I have seen this one and I love it--"The Muppets put their spin on the tale of an elder, Christmas-hating miser who is visited by spirits who foretell his future and share secrets from his past and present, which helps change his view on life."
  2. Scrooged (1988)--I haven't seen this one, but looks fun--"A selfish, cynical television executive is haunted by three spirits bearing lessons on Christmas Eve."
  3. It's Christmas, Carol! (2012)--This one is a new one to me, but it sounds like a good romp AND it's set in Chicago--"On Christmas Eve in Chicago, heartless publishing-exec tyrant Carol is haunted by her dead ex-boss--who is the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future."
  4. Christmas Cupid (2010)--This one is a new one to me, and it sounds kinda off the wall, but I do like holiday romance movies--"A supernatural comedy in which a ruthless PR executive is forced to reconsider her life choices when her number one client suffers an untimely death during the Christmas season."
  5. A Christmas Carol (1999)--This one stars Patrick Stewart, so it's gotta be great--"A bitter old miser who makes excuses for his uncaring nature learns real compassion when three ghosts visit him on Christmas Eve."
  6. Boyfriends of Christmas Past (2021)--Okay, so, this one is a new one to me, and it sounds kinda off the wall, but I do like holiday romance movies (especially ones with wild premises)--"Leading up to Christmas, Lauren is visited by the ghosts of three ex-boyfriends. She must learn to open her heart or risk losing her best friend, Nate."
  7. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009)--I mean, gotta balance the scales after #6--"Spirits of jilted lovers take a handsome, successful photographer on an odyssey through his many failed relationships."
  8. Ebbie (1995)--There are quite a few on this list that have a female Scrooge and I guess that intrigues me--"In this updated retelling of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," ruthless businesswoman and shop owner Elizabeth "Ebbie" Scrooge is taught the true meaning of Christmas by three Spirits who visit her."
  9. Scrooge & Marley (2012)--So I definitely hadn't heard of this one before, but I think I would LOVE it--"[A] a modern variation on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Recounted from a gay sensibility with heart, comedy & music, the magic of Dickens' timeless tale of a man's redemption comes alive from a fresh perspective."
  10. A Christmas Carol: The Musical (2004)--I haven't seen this one, but I do love a musical!--"An old bitter miser is given a chance for redemption when he is haunted by ghosts on Christmas Eve."
  11. An American Carol (2008)--So, I do feel like this one could be absoultely awful, but I am quite intrigued--"An anti-American filmmaker who's out to abolish the July Fourth holiday is visited by three ghosts who try to change his perception of the country."
  12. Carol for Another Christmas (1964)--This version seems to add different aspect to why Scrooge became the way he is--"Daniel Grudge, a wealthy industrialist and fierce isolationist long embittered by the loss of his son in World War II, is visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve who lead him to reconsider his attitude toward his fellow man."
  13. Chasing Christmas (2005)--I like the idea that this version is focused on one of the ghost characters instead of the Scrooge character--"In a world where the holidays are run by the efficient Bureau of Yuletide Affairs, a bitter and burned-out Ghost of Christmas Past decides to go AWOL while on a "mission" and leave his "target" stranded in 1965."
  14. Rich Little's Christmas Carol (1978)--I am unfamiliar with Rich Little, but this version seems like various hats on hats in a way that could be quite entertaining--"In this one-man show starring Rich Little, Ebeneezer Scrooge (played by Rich as W.C. Fields) hates Christmas, and it's up to the Ghosts of Christmas Past (played by Rich as Humphrey Bogart), Present (played by Rich as Columbo) and Future (played by Rich as Inspector Clouseau) to convince him otherwise"
  15. A Little Christmas Business (2013)--This one does seem to rework the story a bit, but I think it could work--"Don has a wonderful life and family, but is caught up in the chaos of corporate America. While working Christmas Eve, it seems that everyone Don meets is a ghost from his past. Is this a coincidence or a heavenly, Christmas intervention?"

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
