15 things I can see

For those who don't know, I'm at my fabulous friend Diana's house in Connemara and it's just glorious.

  1. Mountains! As a lifelong Chicagoan, I'm never going to be over mountains and this house is right on one.
  2. Sweet little lambs. There are a ton of new babies around and their wool is so bright and white despite the rain.
  3. Unconcerned sheep peppering the hills. I don't know how they are so calm when there is wind raging and rain covering you, but calm they are. They just keep grazing and only minding their lambs.
  4. Mist. Right now, the rain is calmer int he storm and so a light mist is cover the mountains a little farther away from the house.
  5. A glimpse of sun. A moment of sun is happening right now. It's fighting against the clouds and giving some really dramatic lighting throughout the valley or whatever you call the area we're in.
  6. Rushing clouds. The wind is moving the clouds like no other Maybe this will mean that the sun will win for a bit.
  7. A potless potted plant. I think the wind has blown this plant's pot right off of it. Actually like me go grab that. Okay I tried, but I couldn't find the pot.
  8. A tiny fairy garden. Diana is working on a fairy garden and while Eoin says it has to come down for a bit because some garden work has to be done, I hope it continues to thrive.
  9. A multi-colored candle. I don't know why, but I'm very affected by the colors in it. Maybe I need to get some multi-colored candles.
  10. Something that may be a stream going down a mountain. It's a bit hard to tell from this view, but there is something managing to cut a groove through the rock.
  11. Stone fences. I will always find these beautiful.
  12. Many shades of green. Whether it's the sun changing the color or just different blooming times for the plants, I can spot so many shades around me.
  13. Blowing branches. I don't think I can emphasize to you the power of the wind around the house right now.
  14. Gorse. I still love this bright yellow flower.
  15. Tufts of a longer grass. Now I'm no expert in plants, but it looks like there are bits of a longer grass-like plant sprouting up over the shorter grazing grass.

Starting my parental journey, part 9

You can  read part 1 here ,  read part 2 here ,  read part 3 here ,  read part 4 here ,  read part 5 here ,  read part 6 here ,  read part 7 here , and read part 8 here . I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
