When Mr. Rodrigo received his pay,
he knew how he'd like to spend the rest of his day:
out on his horse with his daughter May.
Mr. Rodrigo and his little girl trotted down the road
and when they saw another father and daughter they slowed.
"A fine afternoon!" to each other they bestowed.
The two fathers tried to put on quite a show
so that their daughters would be aglow
with pride and gasp a "Whoa!"
But their daughters grew bored
of any tricks with a sword
and so they set, their departure ignored.
The found a small clearing in which to lie.
New and somewhat frightening creatures they did spy.
But as they watched, the realized that the animals looked quite lovely against the sky.
Soon they grew tired and lay down to sleep.
Elsewhere in the woods, their fathers did weep
until the found their daughters snoozing in a heap.
