15 resources for voting

Some of these are going to be Chicago or Illinois specific, but some will be general (I promise)!

  1. Make a plan to vote.
  2. Check if you are registered to vote.
  3. Vote.gov can help you register to vote if you aren't already.
  4. If you're too young to vote, you can sign up for a reminder for when you can register.
  5. If you want to and still can, register for a mail-in ballot.
  6. InjusticeWatch's Cook County judicial elections guide. It will help you learn about the judges' backgrounds, recommendations, and concerns.
  7. Find a safe ballot box. There will be more coming to the city of Chicago on 10/14.
  8. If you are voting in person, find your polling place.
  9. If you are voting in person, learn what ID (if any) you need to bring.
  10. If you are voting in person, review your state's COVID guidelines.
  11. Know your rights on election day. The ACLU has a great guide.
  12. If someone is interfering with your right to vote (see examples from the ACLU), report it to the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE or 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA (en Español) and/or to your local election officials (find them here).
  13. Look up what will be on your ballot so you can see what and/or whom you want to look into before casting your vote.
  14. Need a ride? On Election Day, Lyft is offering 50% off one ride up to $10 to any polling location or dropbox using the code 2020VOTE*. Uber is helping people find their polling locations with an in-app poll-finding feature and 50% off roundtrip rides to and from the polls (up to $7 each trip), or up to $14 for the two trips. It also applies on Uber's bikes and scooters.
  15. Sign up for election reminders at vote.org.

I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

Starting my parental journey, part 8

You can  read part 1 here ,  read part 2 here ,  read part 3 here ,  read part 4 here ,  read part 5 here , read part 6 here , and read part 7 here . I have begun birth control again. Now, that may sound like I'm bailing out of my fertility journey, but it's actually the opposite. In order to get everything ready for the egg retrieval, I need to hop on birth control for a little bit and then hop off. It feels a bit odd to be taking oral birth control, have a birth control arm implant, and be getting ready for an egg retrieval--but that's how it goes (for me at least--getting to keep the arm implant is rare or so I'm told). People have asked me how I'm feeling about this round of egg retrieval and honestly, I haven't thought about it much yet. I am focused on a big stressful event for work and then C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo--basically, Chicago's Comic-Con) which I attend every year. Because of these two events (one stressful, one fun), I del...
