15 minutes of a Sterek fanfic, part 2

You can read part 1 here.

"Oh thank fuck," breathed out Stiles when he saw Derek emerging from the smoke. Derek quickly grabbed Stiles's wrist from Erica's grasp and dragged him away from the crowd. "Ow," said Stiles, not appreciating being yanked about by wolves.

The house set on the edge of the forest in Beacon Hills. It was a dramatic sight to see the windows filled with flames, illuminating the dark trees nearby. Derek gently pushed Stiles up against one of the trees and desperately started examining him. Checking for anything that could be wrong. Any whiff of a burn. Time had not been kind to Derek and he did not often find himself lucky when it came to fire.

"I'm okay, Der," Stiles gently whispered as Derek searched him up and down. "You're okay. We're all okay."

Stiles was...Stiles. The only hint of pain was emanating from his wrist which Derek gently released. Stiles used his freedom to gently cup Derek's face.

"We're all okay," Stiles repeated.

Derek looked deeply into Stiles's eyes for a moment before plunging in for a burning kiss. It was more intense than Stiles had been expecting, but he gave himself over to it. He opened his mouth and let Derek deepen the kiss. Stiles moved his hands into Derek's hair and Derek moved his hands around Stiles's back to hold him close.

When Derek's hand began to drift to Stiles's belt buckle, Stiles immediately broke the kiss, "Wait."

Derek began to pull back immediately, but Stiles held him close.

"No, I just," Stiles looked toward the crowd, a few of whom were watching them. Derek followed his gaze. "Can we just go home?" asked Stiles. Stiles was tired, but he wanted to be close to Derek...just not in front of most of the senior class.

"Yeah," said Derek with a small smile.

"Yeah?" replied Stiles with a smile of his own. He was about to pull Derek in for one more kiss when Derek's head snapped back to the crowd.

"Argent," he said under his breath and began to take off back to the crowd.

"Shit, shit, shit," said Stiles, "Scott, incoming." He knew he wouldn't have to shout, Scott would hear him.

Scott immediately ran to Allison in the crowd and they embraced.

"Oh, you're okay, you're okay," cried Allison. "I was so scared, Scott."

"I'm fine, are you?" Scott held her out at arm's length to examine her, but she was physically fine, although clearly quite shaken. "Hey, come here, come here." Scott held her for a long while, until her breathing slowed down and her sobs subsided.

"It's my fault," whispered Allison.

"What?" said Scott, gently rubbing her back.

"The fire...it's my fault. I knocked over a candle and--"

"Soctt, incoming." It was Stiles's voice and it cut through the crowd. Scott looked up just in time to see Derek making a beeline for him and Allison. Scott protectively stood in front of Allison.

"An Argent and fire, I should've known," roared Derek.

"Hey dude, back off," said Scott, pushing against Derek's chest. Scott could see Stiles flailingly running to catch up to them. "It was an accident."

"An accident? Look at all your friends, Argent, you could've killed all of them! You could've killed--"

"No one died," replied Scott, maintaining his stance in front of Allison who had begun to blubber again.

"Derek," Stiles had caught up and put a hand on Derek's shoulder. "Derek, just come back with me, okay?" His voice was desperate.

Derek shook Stiles off and abruptly turned around and headed for the forest.

"I'm really getting my cardio in," muttered Stiles as he followed after Derek. "Derek! Derek, wait up."

But Derek didn't slow down. Instead, he briefly turned to show bright red eyes to Stiles and then ran into the dark forest.

Stiles sank to his knees, watching Derek run away from him. "Crap."

Starting my parental journey, part 9

You can  read part 1 here ,  read part 2 here ,  read part 3 here ,  read part 4 here ,  read part 5 here ,  read part 6 here ,  read part 7 here , and read part 8 here . I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
