15 minutes of a Sterek fanfic, part 4

You can read part 1 here, part 2 here, and part 3 here.

"How can you not know?" growled Derek as they continued to run.

"We couldn't get to him, but Gerard was there."

Derek tripped. "Gerard Argent?"

"We could hear him, but he laid out mountain ash in Stiles's room so we couldn't go in. I'm sorry, Der--"

Derek got up and began to run even faster. If Gerard Argent had Stiles, then surely it was Derek that Gerard wanted. It had to be. Gerard wouldn't hurt Stiles, he was human. At least, that's what Derek had to tell himself.

"Go find the Sheriff."

"No, I'm coming with you. Stiles said to find you. He sent Boyd to find his dad and Isaac to find Scott."

It was a good plan, thought Derek briefly before the fact that Stiles was alone with Gerard slammed into him like a freight train, nearly knocking the wind out of him.

"Find Boyd then. Gerard wants me. I'm sure of it."

"Then you'll need--"

"I need the rest of you to be safe. Gerard is human, the Sheriff can protect you from him. And can..." Derek trailed off, not wanting to admit that perhaps he wasn't the best person to go on a Stiles rescue mission. He had to though, he would never forgive himself if he didn't.

Erica still hesitated, keeping pace with Derek.

"I said, go," Derek growled, turning his red eyes towards her.

Erica flinched and then took off in another direction.

Derek kept running through the woods to Stiles's house.

It felt like it took forever for Derek to reach Stiles's house. He burst through the unlocked door, "Stiles!" He ran up the stairs and found Stiles's bedroom door open. Derek tried to enter but the mountain ash stopped him.

"Hey, Derek," said Stiles quietly. Stiles was duct taped to his desk chair and facing away from Derek. Gerard was leaning against Stiles's desk, a gun in his hand.

Derek growled, "Let. Him. Go."

"Oh no, Derek, I think you and I are going to have a little chat first."

Derek growled again, "He doesn't concern you, Gerard."

"Au contraire, he concerns me very much. What is a nice young human boy doing with a gruff wolf like you?"

Derek just seethed and didn't answer. He didn't want anything to put Stiles more in harm's way than he already was. And it was all Derek's fault. Derek had tried to tell Stiles this before, but he never listened.

***

After a big fight with another pack, Stiles and Derek found themselves alone in a warehouse. The pack had run home and Scott was walking Allison to her car. Stiles ran his hand through his hair and approached Derek. "Hey, Derek?"

Derek retracted his teeth and turned to face Stiles.

"I just..." Stiles trailed off. Then he was suddenly in front of Derek, moving faster than Derek thought he ever could. Stiles kissed him so lightly that Derek was almost unsure if it had happened.

"Stiles!" called Scott from afar, "Let's go home."

Stiles looked up at Derek with his big brown eyes, "That wasn't a one time thing for me." And with that he left Derek standing dumbstruck in the middle of the warehouse.

---

Derek couldn't get the kiss out of his mind. Had he even had time to kiss Stiles back? Stiles had been all he wanted for he didn't know how long, but it was too dangerous. Derek told himself that the reason he now found himself in Stiles's room was to tell him just that. That this was too dangerous. To break Stiles's heart.

Stiles came in the room.

Starting my parental journey, part 9

You can  read part 1 here ,  read part 2 here ,  read part 3 here ,  read part 4 here ,  read part 5 here ,  read part 6 here ,  read part 7 here , and read part 8 here . I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
