15 things on my one shot idea: The "chosen one" has gone missing

So I wrote a list of 15 one shot ideas, then narrowed it to five, and now I'm narrowing it to three and doing a pageish on each one. Did I miss your favorite? Let me know!

  1. Vibes: Avatar: The Last Airbender meets a bit of The Hunger Games
  2. How the party knows each other: They are an established adventuring party, but beyond that, relationships are up to the players.
  3. Opening scene: The party is ushered to a back room of a luxury inn where they see the beautiful Aba Avo fretting. She is fretting and clearly nervous. She bades the party to sit down and explains the situation. "The Qua Bo has gone missing. It is vital that we locate them. I need your help."
  4. A note on the town/city/village: The religious capital of the Catche Kingdom is the town of Guacaht, where the adventure begins. It's a large town with a lot of religious tourism and religious focus overall. It was recently at capacity with the Evokados Ceremony taking place.
  5. A note on the government: This is a monarchy, but with vassals. There is also an element of religious approval for the ruling monarch. At this time, a new monarch, King Avo has taken the throne, but has yet to be blessed by the Qua Bo as the previous Qua Bo died before King Avo ascended the throne and a new Qua Bo has just been found.
  6. A note on religion: This is a polytheistic world with the belief that the chosen one, aka the Qua Bo, is the bridge between the gods and this realm. I will be flexible about what gods are in this pantheon with the players. However, there is some level of religious reverence for the Qua Bo themself and there is, essentially, a Qua Bo church that all of the kingdom belongs to. There is also a magical element to religion (see below). While it is not a theocracy, there is a strong connection between the church officials and the government (e.g. the monarch is blessed by the Qua Bo). The Evokados Ceremony can only take place on a new moon that is at the beginning of a month. The ceremony draws children from all over the Catche Kingdom to go through a series of trials. The one who succeeds is dubbed the Qua Bo, the bridge.
  7. A note on magic in the world: Magic is highly tied to religion. It is seen to come to be because of the connection formed between other realms and this one by the chosen one, aka the Qua Bo, regardless of how people get their magic. Thus it is seen as a powerful and somewhat religious thing.
  8. Party restrictions (e.g. class, age, species): Players must be adults and must reasonably be a cohort. Class is open except for bloodhunter. All basic rules' species are open.
  9. How different species (or races) are viewed in the world: This is a fairly egalitarian society, so most businesses can accommodate all species. Divisions more come from money.
  10. What item(s) can the party have at the beginning of the adventure: This is somewhat flexible since the party is an established group that gets stuff done. However, I do not picture them as terribly rich so it's not unlimited what they have. They are also in their hometown or at least a common home base so they would know where they could find anything they need.
  11. Maximum party size: 5
  12. Who has hired the party: The envoy to the king who was supposed to ensure the Evokados Ceremony went as planned
  13. What (if any) is the reward?: Money and/or political favors
  14. An NPC the party will encounter: Aba Ado, the envoy to the king. She is a nervous elf having been recently appointed by King Avo. She is desperate to find the Qua Bo and get King Avo blessed, maintain balance in the kingdom, and keep her job.
  15. The paragraph I wrote in summary: Recently, the Evokados Ceremony has taken place and the new spiritual leader, said to bring about a golden age in the kingdom, was chosen by a set of symbolic trials. However, this new leader is a young child who is now nowhere to be seen. The first step will be to talk to the aging spiritual leader, said to be a great seer, or to talk to the child's parents. I imagine this one to be a bit of a cat-and-mouse game filled with puzzles and tough decision-making, ultimately making the party wonder what is the right course of action for this child and whether or not the child should be found or is even still alive.

I've officially begun my second cycle. On Wednesday, I had a virtual appointment, yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound, and today I began injections again. On Wednesday, I expressed my concern about my weight and was told not to fret about it for this cycle but that I should work on it for my health. I got told some vague things about measuring my food by volume and weight and that being the key the weight loss (idk it sounded weird to me). But other than that my appointment went well and I really liked the PA I met with. Overall, she was supportive and encouraging me to advocate for myself. Yesterday, I had to get up earlier than normal (6am) so I could make it to my ultrasound at 7am (I have asked for future ultrasounds to be at 8am). I got weighed (ugh), had my blood drawn, and t...

Starting my parental journey, part 8

Now, that may sound like I'm bailing out of my fertility journey, but it's actually the opposite. In order to get everything ready for the egg retrieval, I need to hop on birth control for a little bit and then hop off. It feels a bit odd to be taking oral birth control, have a birth control arm implant, and be getting ready for an egg retrieval--but that's how it goes (for me at least--getting to keep the arm implant is rare or so I'm told). People have asked me how I'm feeling about this round of egg retrieval and honestly, I haven't thought about it much yet. I am focused on a big stressful event for work and then C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo--basically, Chicago's Comic-Con) which I attend every year. Because of these two events (one stressful, one fun), I del...
