So I wrote a list of 15 one shot ideas, then narrowed it to five, and now I'm narrowing it to three and doing a pageish on each one. Did I miss your favorite? Let me know!
- Vibes: The Adventure Zone, but a little more serious
- How the party knows each other: They are an established adventuring party, but beyond that, relationships are up to the players
- Opening scene: It's a grand night at Ore Else. Barra Tava (see below) is in full form, serving more tables than anyone could imagine while keeping everything neat and jovial. As the party cheers to a night out, an explosion bursts through the back of Ore Else (which faces the mine opening), exploding the bar. Everything goes white. Suddenly, the party is back at the entrance of Ore Else and the clock is striking 10pm, the time they arrived at the tavern. However, they would all swear they had just cheersed to midnight.
- A note on the town/city/village: Minería is a mining town on the outskirts of the kingdom of Mullaigh. Clogama, the time god, is worshipped pretty much exclusively in this area. The local tavern is called Ore Else. Minería is known for its work hard, play hard attitude. The people of Minería (Minerians) are known to be proud of where they come from and also to boast gaudy jewelry made from the silver and gold they mine. Lately, there has been some tension with nearby towns changing the worship to other, foreign, gods.
- A note on the government: There is a mayor (Meera Slieve) who reports to the governor of the state of Buaich (Rial Panache) who reports to the king of Mullaigh (Ri Cnoch). The mayor is elected by adults in the town. The governor is elected by the mayors and the king comes from the royal family but is elected by the governors.
- A note on religion: The religion of this world focuses on Clogama, a time god whose symbol is a sundial (though clocks now exist in this world). There are other fringe religions, but this is the primary religion by far.
- A note on magic in the world: Magic is very well accepted in this world though it does denote power so some view it with an edge of fear.
- Party restrictions (e.g. class, age, species): This is a mountainous town so a species that makes sense here or has a good story for why they live here is required. Players must be adults and must reasonably be a cohort. Class is open except for bloodhunter, but only one may be a cleric.
- How different species (or races) are viewed in the world: This is a pretty egalitarian society species-wise. However, up in the mountains, some races are sometimes teased for not being adaptable to the environment.
- What item(s) can the party have at the beginning of the adventure: This is somewhat flexible since the party is an established group that gets stuff done. However, I do not picture them as terribly rich so it's not unlimited what they have. They are also in their hometown or at least a common home base so they would know where they could find anything they need.
- Maximum party size: 4
- Who has hired the party: No one, but they appear to be the only ones stuck in the time loop
- What (if any) is the reward?: Saving the town and themselves
- An NPC the party will encounter: Barra Tava the tavern wench. She is a dwarf, quite comely, blonde, and blue-eyed with tan skin. She is jovial, friendly, and is a favorite of the party's. She is very knowledgeable about the town and about Clogama. She does not know much about the mining industry as she decided long ago that that life wasn't for her.
- The paragraph I wrote in summary: The adventuring party, all natives to a mining town known to worship a time god, already knows each other and is a few drinks deep at their favorite local tavern when it explodes. Suddenly, they are walking through the door again, roughly two hours earlier. No one else seems effected, but, if they do nothing, two hours later, the explosion happens again and yet again they return to the entrance to the tavern. Ultimately, the party must figure out what is causing the time loop and how to break it without the mining town being obliterated.
