Another 15 websites (including Etsy shops) that I can't personally recommend for buying holiday gifts, but would still like to promote
I'm sure I'm missing some, but these are ones that I have either heard great things about, bought from in-person, but can't speak to their online capabilities, or that I have been curious about. They are in no particular order. You can read my first "15 websites (including Etsy shops) that I can't personally recommend for buying holiday gifts, but would still like to promote" and my second "15 more websites (including Etsy shops) that I can't personally recommend for buying holiday gifts, but would still like to promote".
I also wanted to, again, highlight my post "15 websites (including Etsy shops) that I can personally recommend for buying holiday gifts".
I was inspired to do this by We Ain’t Buying It, which is calling on people to stop shopping at Target, Home Depot, and Amazon between Thanksgiving Day and Cyber Monday (I do realize it is now after Thanksgiving). You can read more about this boycott on their website (linked above) or in The Hill's article "‘We Ain’t Buying It’: These retailers are being targeted by holiday shopping boycott" by Alix Martichoux.
- Nerdy Novelty Design (bought from at C2E2 and I can personally speak to product quality): Small biz owner who sells kitchenware & sometimes posts about 'em. Comic con world traveler & cat mom.
- Rebecca Mock (seen their stuff in person at C2E2 but been too shy to buy the stuff they had there (think NSFW)!): I am an illustrator, animator, comic book artist, educator, writer, and fandom enthusiast.
- Mirkywood Emporium (bought from at C2E2 and I can personally speak to product quality): A family owned and operated woodworking business. Pop culture and custom products available.
- Jellykoe (okay, I forgot this one for the first two posts, I have received a gift from their online store before, seen them at C2E2, and have loved the dress I got from them): Husband and wife duo specializing in illustration and designer toys (personally, I love their cryptid stuff).
- Crystal Maggie (bought from them on Etsy before, so they probably should've been in the first post): When you roll a CrystalMaggie die, you'll feel the power of the magic world coursing through your veins. You'll feel the magic of the universe aligning itself with your goals. And you'll know that you're holding something truly special in your hands.
- CandleTit LLC (I've coveted their stuff at art fairs, but never purchased because their pieces are NSFW): CandleTits provide curious souls the opportunity to explore breast/chest diversity through an everyday object, respectfully and without judgement.
- Mixtape Your Life Th(bought from at art fairs before and I can personally speak to product quality): e very best pop culture flair, fashion and accessories. Lovingly curated vintage clothing for everyone.
- Nomadic Ant (coveted their stuff at art faits, but never quite found the right piece): A Chicago-based designer and retailer of unique, handmade silver jewelry and accessories.
- Woodberry Co. (bought from at art fairs before and I can personally speak to product quality): Back in 2015, we began making soap as a hobby using a single wooden box mold and a beginner’s “how-to” book. Our soap looked and felt so good that we started giving bars as gifts, which were such a hit that our friends and family quickly became our first customers.
- Boogie Bee Jewelry (I've coveted their stuff, but never purchased): I (Holly) know them mostly for their creative claw clips.
- The Peach Fuzz (I've coveted their stuff, but never purchased): I (Holly) know them mostly for their creative claw clips.
- Fickle Flower Arts (bought from at art fairs before and I can personally speak to product quality): In my first Chicago ceramics class, pre-pandemic times, I reconnected with art and the artistic community. I have taken classes since at Lill Street and with the Chicago Parks, on and off visits to different local studios. I have built a community, a small business, and a functional understanding of a craft as old as humanity herself.
- Edge of Time Jewelry (I've coveted their stuff at art fairs, but never purchased): I re-purpose vintage items & found objects & give them a new life - Art Deco wrist watches & broken pocket watches become necklaces, watch mechanics & coins become rings. Everyday items from different decades & centuries are combined to make wearable jewelry & are seen in a completely different way.
- CositasAlPunto (an Etsy shop whose products I've bought at an in-person event): Handcrafted accessories and cross stitched goods.
- WindroseDesignsLLC (an Etsy shop whose products I've bought at an in-person event): Two artists, one goal. Original artwork / Gifts / Custom Designs.
