15 thoughts on Heated Rivalry - SPOILERS

I watched Heated Rivalry recently and chatted about it with great friends--some of the thoughts may be borrowed from them! SPOILERS ABOUND!

  1. I MUST read the books written Rachel Reid (at least some of them as I think they're like 7?)
  2. One of the reasons I want to read some of the books is I want to know more about what was happening during the chunks of time the show skips over
  3. The lead actors have amazing chemistry (and I love that they're also close off-screen)
  4. It is too funny to me that the Canada Media Fund contributed $3.1 million to the series and that, in addition to the federal funding, the series received tax credits ("Not to make a joke, but we got a lot of bang for our buck," - Canada's Culture Minister Marc Miller)
  5. This show portrays yearning so convincingly
  6. Even though this is fully fictional, I still felt sad at the time Ilya and Shane lost by hiding from their feelings
  7. Also, even though it's fictional, it has been so heartwarming to see the real impact it's having (e.g. "'Heated Rivalry' star Hudson Williams surprises real-life hockey player who came out")
  8. It's so great that Ilya's bisexuality is treated as bisexuality (meaning the show does not suggest that he "picked a side" when he chose to be with Shane)
  9. I love the hurt/comfort trope, so, personally, I would've loved a longer scene after Shane is rushed to the hospital
  10. I don't think of myself as a prude or as easily scandalized, but my eyebrows did raise at the level of explicit scenes this show had (not a bad thing, to be clear, just a little surprising)
  11. One of the sweetest moments on the show (for me) was when Elena is (essentially) giving Scott a shovel talk, but pivots to say that Kip deserves sunlight, and so does Scott
  12. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and cannot wait for another season
  13. I could absolutely get on board with a Rose/Svetlana ship
  14. I'm down a fan rabbit hole of memes and my algorithm has learned that (happy to send you what I've accumulated, just lemme know)
  15. I know that I will soon go down a different fun rabbit hole of fanvids (happy to send you what I'll accumulate, just lemme know)

(Prompt by me)

Heated Rivalry, Crave

15 facts about my dad

Just been thinking about some lighthearted facts I know about my dad lately. When he was young, he had a goldfish named Lysander He introduced me to Star Trek At Christmas, he would tear up at It's a Wonderful Life He used to send me articles from his Yahoo email account that he thought I'd like We used to play a game called "Nightmare" where he would lie down and we'd jump around (and sometimes on) him He would clip possible recipes for us to try out of newspapers and magazines We bought him a Paddington Bear to take on trips because we feared he'd be lonely and he always took it He had teddy bears for three different holidays We once had such a hilariously difficult time building a gingerbread house that when some frosting ended up on the counter, I plopped a gumdrop on it and we laughed until we cried He and his sister were born about 11 months apart We would try recipes from Top Chef He kept gifts I made him, even when they weren't great At Christmas, ...
