Thoughts on RuPaul's Drag Race season 18, episode 15

Time for Rupaul-a-Paruza!

  1. DD...yes...you missed it...you left first...
  2. Wait, why is Ciara dressed like this (ah she explains)?
  3. Omg Jane is hilarious
  4. OMG! BRIAR!
  5. Yeah, good call to just rest, Briar
  6. Oof, I don't really like this Jane vs. Ciara fight
  7. I love that Mia is still a Mandy stan
  8. I like Briar's stage look!
  9. So, I am torn about how the structure of this lip sync smackdown (I do like that queens are rewarded for having made it farther, but at the same time I wish some queens didn't have to fight so hard--like Mandy!)
  10. Hey, it's Asaf!
  11. So I BELIEVE Ciara's look is a reference to The Substance--regardless, it looks cool
  12. I wish there were songs other than Ru's
  13. I do love Athena's Ruveal (and Ciara struggled with hers)
  14. Athena took that for me (but Ru doesn't agree somehow?)
  15. Also, how are the queens surprised EVERY year that they have to find out who lost when they walk into the werkroom
  16. I'm so glad that Briar gets to join them on the more comfortable couches
  17. I'm surprised that Mia picked Mandy cause I thought Mia would've wanted to give Mandy more of a chance?
  18. DD was funny when she grabbed Vita's hand and they rushed off stage
  19. Mia...throwing the bills at Mandy helps her performance
  20. Athena...of course you're rooting for Mia
  21. But I thought Mandy took that one (man, I am wrong again!)
  22. I do love a Ruveal...but I didn't like DD's outer outfit to start with
  23. I'm more torn on this one, but I THINK I'd pick Vita (I finally guessed right!)
  24. So Vita does not get a break--that's BS
  25. Vita...picking Mia is an ODD choice
  26. That was a super fun lip sync! I'd say Mia took it though (Ru agrees!)
  27. I'm surprised that Kenya didn't pick Discord (though, she does say her reasons)
  28. That was also a super fun lip sync, but I'd say Ciara took it for me (Ru disagrees, but I'm not mad--it was closer IMO)
  29. Jane...I think picking "Sissy That Walk" is going to be a mistake for you
  30. Omg Discord and Jane walking like they're doing limbo is hilarious
  31. I'd say Jane won (and Ru agrees)
  32. That said, I really do like Discord's look
  33. Jane is doing back to back too (I get that people are surprised by Jane's choice, but like she only had tough opponents to pick from)
  34. Juicy's Ruveal is an all time EPIC one (but maybe it would've been better to save for the final lip sync?)
  35. Jane, your only chance is to crank up the goofiness factor more
  36. I actually found Jane kind of giving up and acting like Juicy's background dancer to be quite funny--that said, Juicy definitely won (and, no surprise, but Ru agrees)
  37. Another great lip sync, but I'd say Mia won (and Ru agrees)
  38. And now Mia is the one without a break
  39. Dang, Kenya doesn't get to chill out in the werkroom?
  40. I totally forgot that Suzie Toot was also a Florida queen
  41. Juicy does moves that I didn't know had even been conceived of
  42. So, Juicy took that for me, but Mia was also awesome (Ru agrees!)
  43. Next time is the finale
  44. I'm rooting for Myki, but it'd be pretty fun if Darlene won (sorry, Nini)
  45. Can't wait!

15 facts I learned from a random Wikipedia article

Original prompt: click on "Random Wikipedia Article" and write about whatever comes up (you can try 3 times and pick your favorite). For the record, I got Alejandro Estivill , Fencing at the 2011 Pan American Games – Women's épée , and Benjamin F. Jonas . I chose Benjamin F. Jonas because it was the longest of the three entries and it had a photo. He was born in Kentucky, moved to Illinois as a kid, and went to college and spent the rest of his life in Louisiana Jonas's father was a merchant and lawyer His father knew Lincoln (like they were real buds) Despite this, Jonas sided with the confederacy Not only did he side with the confederacy, but he joined the Confederate army and rose to the rank of major He went to University of Louisiana (now Tulane) Jonas was Jewish (I didn't know there were Jewish senators who served the Confederacy) He was the second Jewish U.S. Senator from Louisiana and the third Jewish Senator overall Jonas was the first Ashkenazi Jewish US...

Origin story or first issue of a superhero whose super power is geometry

Arya sat in history class and was bored. She longed to get to geometry, where things made more sense. She liked geometry so much that she had joined the math team to be able to do it more. Okay, there was also the extra time with her friends who loved math as much as she did, but some of the appeal was just the math itself. Finally the bell rang and Arya had four minutes to get to her geometry class. She passed right by the chemistry class next door where her least favorite teacher was conducting experiments. He needed to be more careful, thought Arya. The teacher had once exploded a glass beaker and not on purpose. Arya took her seat and excitedly pulled out her notebook. It was her favorite color: hot pink. She assigned her notebook and folder colors in ways that felt right to her. And since geometry was her favorite subject, she made her notebook and folder for it her favorite color. As the teacher started to go over the most common mistakes from the last quiz, Arya could've swo...

Color palette

Original prompt: "Google "color palette," pick one, and write something inspired by it." I actually Googled "color palette public domain" to be sure I could use it and found the image on this post. I used the "floral" section for my inspiraiton. The soft sunlight somehow didn't dim the shine of the fireflies. Such it was in the fae realm. Fern loved this time of day in the faewild where it wasn't quite day, but it was far from night. Fern frolicked alone in the glade as she was want to do. It didn't matter to her that her laughter carried itself alone on the breeze; she was content. She wasn't sure how long she'd been alone as she watched the suns begin to set, but it was pleasant in its own way. But then, she heard a noise. It wasn't the noise of leaves on the wind or twigs snapping from some comforting creature. It was the noise of someone approaching with grim determination. Fern wasn't sure how to ready herself to ...
