For those unfamiliar with Dropout TV, it's a comedy subscription streaming service run by the production company that was formerly CollegeHumor. One of their series is Game Changer which is described as a game show where the game changes every show. However, sometimes they do something called a Game Samer where they repeat a game from an earlier episode. Here are 15 suggestions for games from Game Changer that I think would be great for a Game Samer (that I don't believe have been repeated before)!
- "Lie Detector" (season 1, episode 1): Players will answer intimate questions while a lie detector, secretly controlled by someone they know, verifies their answers. In the original episode, it was their significant others controlling the machine, but maybe this time it is a parent or sibling
- "Sleeper Agents" (season 2, episode 3): Players will hit the streets to activate secret spies and suspicious civilians
- "Tell Us About Yourself" (season 3, episode 1): Players have to identify a mystery individual by guessing facts about them. In the original episode, it was Tony Hawk, but I think it could be fun to do other celebrities or other Dropout cast
- "20/20 Vision" (season 3, episode 9): Players will have to try and recall whether certain major events took place the year the episode is filmed. The game would need a new title as the old title refers to the year the original episode was filmed (2020). I also think they should include events in the players' lives
- "Next Slide Please" (season 3, episode 12): Players will have to give presentations based on accompanying slideshows they haven't seen before (bonus idea is to have personal photos that the players' significant others have sent to Dropout)
- "Name a Number" (season 5, episode 4): Players will have to estimate the number of times another player (wearing noise cancelling headphones and a blindfold) can perform a specific task, and then the player must try to do the task as many times as they can. I would imagine a scale of points (e.g. 10 points for the tasker doing the exact number the estimator said, 5 points for being within a +/- range of the estimate, and -5 for being more than twice the range off). This is a slight change to the original version, which required the players to estimate the number of times they themselves could perform a specific task, and must then had to hit that number in order to earn points
- "The Bachelor" (season 5, episodes 7 & 8): A player is placed in a The Bachelor-inspired scenario in which he must choose between ten potential suitors, eliminating them one at a time, with two additional cast members acting as their counsel. Since the first episode had Grant O'Brien as the lead, I would want the repeat episode(s) to feature a lead who is a woman or is nonbinary (call it "The Bachelorette" or "The Bachelore"--like latine)
- "Escape the Greenroom" (season 5, episode 9): Players are trapped in a room at the studio, which has been converted into an escape room, and must escape before time runs out. Originally, this was the greenroom, but I'm sure the studio has another room that could be used (which would then necessitate a title change)
- "The Newlyweb Game" (season 6, episode 2): The players for this episode must be three couples. In a parody of The Newlywed Game, the couples must answer questions about information obtained from their partners' cell phones. As long as the questions asked feature a good mix of new and old, I think this could work well as a repeat
- "Pencils Down" (season 6, episode 4): Players will create different art within a time limit based on prompts provided by Sam and other guests (perhaps significant others?), such as drawings, sculptures, and temporary tattoos (perhaps also hair cuts?)
- "Beat the Buzzer" (season 6, episode 7): Sam will ask the players trivia questions, but when their podium buzzers malfunction after a single use, they must repeatedly search for working buzzers hidden around the building in order to answer
- "Ratfish" (season 6, episodes 8 & 9): In a game inspired by The Circle, players will be isolated in different hotel rooms and create false personas with which to interact with one another over text, with the least successful at identifying the others' true identities being progressively eliminated. This time though, the ratfish is someone actually fun to watch (shots fired, I know)
- "One Year Later" (season 7, episode 1): Players will be graded on how well they each completed a set of challenges, which were given to them by Sam immediately one year prior
- "Rulette" (season 7, episode 7): Players will take turns spinning a giant wheel, then must follow the rules it assigns to them. If they haven't ditched the original giant wheel, this shouldn't be a terribly difficult lift. But, I would expect some new rules
- "Don't Wake Standards & Practices" (season 8, episode 1): In an homage to Don't Wake Daddy, players' movement on a life-sized gameboard will be determined by how badly their responses to potentially controversial prompts violate standards and practices guidelines, as voted on by three lawyers
