15 thoughts on Survivor 50

Yes, this show did end over a week ago, but, in my defense, I only watched the finale this past Thursday! Anyways, here are 15 thoughts on this milestone season.

  1. Overall, I had a great time watching
  2. I do think my enjoyment was enhanced by having a fantasy team that could earn me points as it got me more invested
  3. Also, to be fair, the fact that I won my friend group's fantasy game both in terms of points and in terms of having the winner on my team did amplify this enjoyment
  4. I was also more invested faster because the players were all returners, so I knew them from earlier seasons
  5. I will say that celebrity twists themselves were fun, but I really didn't need them to be branded or for the celebrities to actually appear (lookin' at you, Zac Brown)
  6. I do think that more than 18 players can work for a season, but I think I would've trimmed it a tad to 21 players instead of the 24 we say. The reason for that is while the blood moon twist was a dramatic twist, the subsequent multiple player eliminations did not hit as hard and thus kind of diminished the effect of all of them
  7. I was so glad that we got a loved ones visit
  8. I was hoping that at some point there would be a challenge that was, in part, trivia-based and we'd get to hear some fun Survivor trivia and/or learn more about Fiji
  9. The jury questions were more like speeches and it hit odd or even uncomfortable at times
  10. I did not like Jeff giving Ozzy the shirt at the reunion that poked fun at his super emotional elimination
  11. Overall though, I did like the live reunion, but I did expect to hear from/about more of the players as that is what I dislike the most about the immediate reunion in Fiji (we don't get to hear from anyone who didn't make the jury)
  12. With so many seasons having passed, I want a future season to be Survivor X: Generations, where every player must be a child or nibling of a previous player, each with an advantage inspired by their player relative that they can decide to get possession of before any immunity or reward challenge (although, depending on the advantage, there will be a deadline by which a player must either claim or forfeit their benefit). Side note, yes, I know they've had pairs of relatives on the show before, but I like my version better haha
  13. I wonder if there will ever be a new host. I really like Jeff, but he is now in his mid-60s so I wonder how many more seasons he even wants to host at this point
  14. If they do ever replace Jeff, I hope they pick a past iconic player
  15. While I will watch season 51, they HAVE to up their graphics budget for these teaser trailers

(Prompt by me)

I'm angry

I'm angry. And I don't (at the moment) want to be talked out of it. I struggle, often, with expressing or even just sitting with my emotions. I feel like even the photo I chose for this post was more reserved or toned down than how I feel.  But, this is my trying. I'm not going to time this post, just going to write until I feel done, whenever that may be. In this post, I'm going to focus on the anger I feel around my dad and my dad's death. Though, don't get me wrong, I'm also angry about a lot of things going on in my city, in my country, and in the world. My dad chose alcohol over me and my brother. There is no way around this fact. Yes, when I am less angry, I can be more reasonabl and recognize that addiction is a disesase and he didn't have control over it. But, right now, I want to be angry. I want to get to be angry. I want to get to feel my feelings. I don't want to rationalize, I don't want to be reasonable, I don't want to be fair....
