15 of my favorite state costumes from Miss USA 2026

If you don't know (like I didn't not too long ago), Miss USA includes a (non-scored) state costume contest. Often, these costumes are loud, bold, and even wacky. A quick note that the image I used for this post is from a different pageant, but I thought it gave similar vibes. Finally, I have to link out to images of the costumes because those ain't free!

With all of that out of the way, here are my 15 favorite state costumes from Miss USA 2026 in state alphabetical order.

  1. Miss Alabama, Samantha Havenstrite (clearly a white floral inspiration)
  2. Miss Alaska, Holly Huber (a fisherman/crabber inspiration)
  3. Miss Connecticut, Jaeden Hamelly (a navy inspiration)
  4. Miss Delaware, Julia Hatoum (a chemical engineer--her career--inspiration)
  5. Miss Florida, Aileen Cerchiara (a clear flamingo inspiration)
  6. Miss Idaho, Katie Tetreault (a salmon in the stream inspiration)
  7. Miss Illinois, Vivica Lewandowski (I believe this is a state mineral--which is fluorite--inspiration)
  8. Miss Indiana, Eniola Oke (a women builders of the P-47 Thunderbolt plane inspiration)
  9. Miss Michigan, Amber Uhler (a lighthouse inspiration)
  10. Miss Minnesota, Rachel Betterley (a Valhalla goddess inspiration)
  11. Miss Montana, Lisbeth Fernandez (a bitterroot inspiration)
  12. Miss New Hampshire, Samantha LaBonne (a lilac and subtle ladybug inspiration)
  13. Miss Pennsylvania, Elizabeth Voight (a bald eagle/USA's 250th inspiration)
  14. Miss South Dakota, Lexus Paulson (a motorcycle inspiration)
  15. Miss Vermont, Katherine McQuade (a tree pepping inspiration)

Color palette

Original prompt: "Google "color palette," pick one, and write something inspired by it." I actually Googled "color palette public domain" to be sure I could use it and found the image on this post. I used the "floral" section for my inspiraiton. The soft sunlight somehow didn't dim the shine of the fireflies. Such it was in the fae realm.
