15 minutes of a Sterek fanfic, part 6

You can read part 1 here, part 2 here, part 3 here, part 4 here, and part 5 (NSFW) here.

Derek didn't answer Gerard's taunt. Instead, he had his eyes focused on Stiles who was very still.

"The police will be here soon," growled Derek. He was sure Erica and Boyd had found the sheriff by now.

"Hm," said Gerard, "if only they weren't preoccupied with something else."

Fear shot through Derek. Gerard had planned this, had prepared for this. Had the fire at the party been his doing?

Derek showed his fangs, "What do you want?"

"Now that's more like it," said Gerard, "We can have a friendly conversation." Gerard turned Stiles around in his chair and Stiles wouldn't meet Derek's eyes.

Derek didn't take his eyes off of Stiles, "What do you want, Gerard?"

"Oh I think you know what I want," replied Gerard, tapping his gun against Stiles's leg. "I want you to get out of town."

This hadn't been what Derek was expecting so he just moved his stare from Stiles to Gerard.

"I want you and your filthy little pack to skip town and leave humans out of your business."

"If you don't want humans in my business then let Stiles go."

"Oh I'm not sure I can let a tainted human like this go," smirked Gerard.

"Your granddaughter is just as tainted," hissed Derek before he could tell himself not to.

"Watch your mouth," Gerard said, using his gun to force Stiles's head up.

Derek saw why Stiles had been avoiding his gaze. There was genuine fear in his eyes but also pain. Had Gerard already hurt him?

Derek tried to break through the mountain ash barrier, he struggled and flung all of his strength against it, but he couldn't get through. He was failing. He was failing Stiles.

"If I agree to leave town, will you let him go?" Derek asked, exhaustion creeping into his voice.

"I think I'd need more than your word." Gerard tipped Stiles's head towards him, "I think I'd need to keep this one with me until you left town."

"Not happening."

"Der--" Stiles was cut off by Gerard smacking him in the face with the gun, forcing his head to the side.

"Did I give you permission to speak?" Gerard asked before cracking his neck and straightening himself. "Kids, they never do listen, do they?"

Derek wanted to scream. He wanted to tear Gerard limb from limb. But mostly he wanted to rush to Stiles. His shock prevent the first and the mountain ash prevented the other two.

"S'not so bad," Stiles whispered so only Derek could hear, but there was blood coming out of his nose.

Sirens sounded in the distance. Too faint for Gerard to hear, but Derek felt a wave of relief wash over him. The police would come. Stiles would be okay. He had to be okay.

Gerard had noticed Derek perk up. "I'll take that as my cue, but think about what I said or," he looked at Stiles, "next time I won't be so kind in my aim." Gerard, without looking away from Derek, shot Stiles in both feet.

Stiles screamed and Derek roared, neither noticing that Gerard snuck out the window with something from Stiles's room until Derek suddenly fell forwards, the circle of mountain ash having been broken.

Derek scrambled forward to Stiles, "Stiles, stay with me, stay with me." He used his claws to break the duct tape and carried Stiles as fast as he could to his car. The sirens were still far away and Derek knew he could get to the hospital faster. He'd outrun worse in his camaro before.

Starting my parental journey, part 2

You can read part 1 here . Yesterday I began the next step of my parental journey. Ironically, it was starting birth control. This medicine helps prepare my ovaries for the egg retrieval process. It was weird taking the pill to prepare for my fertility journey because you typically think of the pill as ensuring you don't get pregnant. Obviously, I'm not getting pregnant now, but I am getting ready for that eventual possibility. There have also been various bureaucratic issues that I've been dealing with. Mostly insurance stuff (as I'm sure comes as no surprise). But, thanks to a new benefit at work that started 1/1/24, my journey will be (mostly) covered. While, again, there were some bureaucratic hurdles that I had to overcome in order for this to all work out, I am immensely glad that it did work out. I am nervous though. In part I'm nervous about a lot of the practicalities of this step in my journey. For instance, I will have to inject myself with various medica...

15 ways to support me on my parental journey

I posted yesterday and in August, 2023 about starting my parental journey. If you're wondering how you can support me, here are some ideas I have at the moment (though these may change and also don't feel pressured to do any of these things). Check in via text or DM so I can respond at my leisure (but please don't be insulted if I take a long time to respond) Help with arranging food for me (I know that when I get overwhelmed, I often have really awful eating habits) Offer to help with apartment chores (I may turn you down, but the offer will mean a lot) Walk Hoban (I realize only some people can do this, but the relief of lightening the responsibility of Hoban will likely be welcome) Be understanding if I have to cancel plans (I hope to still be somewhat social during this time, but I cannot guarantee how I'm going to feel) Drive me to appointments (I have the retrieval itself covered, but I have other appointments that will happen leading up to it so if you have the...
