15 minutes of new D&D brainstorming, part 22

I'm going to try and hide this from my players, but if you're a player and have opened this, please stop! I'm copying from my previous post to expand upon it. Now though, I'm going to focus on the third adventure. Expanded world notes are heremore Thanatos notes are here, and second adventure notes are here. Also, I bounced some ideas off of Chat GPT and probably went over time (oops).

Third adventure

  • Travel to Eros
  • 2.5 days travel (cut a day if they get the horse and cart)
  • Roll a D20 each day
    • 1-4: Rain so bad that they lose a day
    • 5-8:
      • Day 1: Encounter a mind swap device by accident
        • As they walk through the forest, they find a mysterious glowing box, no traps around it. It could be a grave marker (turns out to be the grave marker of a trickster) but it swaps the minds of the two closest to it if activated (activated by touching it). From there, follow the mind swap (ctrl f here)
      • Day 2: Something in the Fields
        • The party runs into halfling travelers from the farms outside of Eros going into the city. They share that animals have been found slashed to pieces, but not eaten. Even one man who went into the fields alone was found cut apart. They are considering going to the council for help or simply moving to the bigger city. They also share that the elder of the community has pulled together 250 gold and a horse and cart to reward whoever takes care of the problem.
        • If they go to the elder, they know something is lurking in the fields. No one is allowed to go out on their own and children are kept close. Barrenthorn has no clues that might help the adventurers, but says they can talk to anyone in the village to see what they can find out. Here are the clues based on who the party talks to:
          • An old man found his prize goat sliced to pieces, the only thing out of the ordinary was some straw on the ground leading into the fields (DC 10)
          • A woman says she doesn’t like to walk by a certain scarecrow because she feels like she is being watched, its probably just in her head though… (DC 13)
          • One child swears he saw a scarecrow turn its head and watch him walk by (DC 18)
        • Go into the fields and encounter four scarecrows
      • Day 3: Comfy chair modified to comfy moss
      • Day 4+: Uneventful day of travel, ask if there's anything they want to accomplish that day
    • 9-12:
    • 13-16: Easy travel, ask if there's anything they want to accomplish that day
    • 17-20:
      • Day 1: Notice some dirt recently turned over and discover a bag of 400 GP
      • Day 2: A bag that looks like it has been thrown from a cart on the side of the road, it contains random loot (magic table A here), each roll a D100
      • Day 3: Spy a bag hidden in a tree branch, inside it contains random loot (rarity: uncommon here), each roll a D100

Starting my parental journey, part 1

To be clear, I am not pregnant. Nor do I currently plan on being pregnant soon. However, I promised myself that if I was 30 and still single I'd start to explore my options for having a child either on my own or later in life with a partner. Well, 30 came and went, but 31 is still here so close enough I figure. My first step was to make an appointment to discuss options with a doctor because I could do all the research I wanted on the internet, but I knew it would overwhelm me. As I write this, I haven't had that appointment yet so no news there. Now I made this appointment in February (hey, I was still 30 then!) and it was originally scheduled for October (yes, an 8-month wait for an initial appointment), but last week the appointment got moved up to this week and things got moving! The timing feels right in a certain way. Two people I care about are having babies in the next month, someone else I love is expecting next year, and I also know multiple couples either trying or g

Starting my parental journey, part 2

You can read part 1 here . Yesterday I began the next step of my parental journey. Ironically, it was starting birth control. This medicine helps prepare my ovaries for the egg retrieval process. It was weird taking the pill to prepare for my fertility journey because you typically think of the pill as ensuring you don't get pregnant. Obviously, I'm not getting pregnant now, but I am getting ready for that eventual possibility. There have also been various bureaucratic issues that I've been dealing with. Mostly insurance stuff (as I'm sure comes as no surprise). But, thanks to a new benefit at work that started 1/1/24, my journey will be (mostly) covered. While, again, there were some bureaucratic hurdles that I had to overcome in order for this to all work out, I am immensely glad that it did work out. I am nervous though. In part I'm nervous about a lot of the practicalities of this step in my journey. For instance, I will have to inject myself with various medica
