So, I'm behind on posting because C2E2 2026 was occupying me! Here are some panels/events I attended while there!
- Everything You Wanted to Know about Indie Publishing (very interesting, but I wish there was more Q&A time--that said, all of the panelists were like, "Please send me a message and I'll be happy to answer any questions we didn't a chance to answer," so it was still pretty great)
- Cults of Personality, The Parasocial, and Psychology In Contemporary Graphic Novels (incredibly interesting and one of the panelists chatted with me after when I had questions about how generative AI could impact the intensity of some fans' perceptions of their relationships with celebrities and/or fictional characters, but I do wish they'd had at least one woman on the panel)
- DEATH, DICE & DREAD: High Stakes Improvised Suspense (Henry kept forgetting what Henry's whole shtick was)
- Learning form the Past: Using Historical Design to Elevate Cosplay (so deeply cool, but I do think the panelists should've timed out their presentations since we ended up having to skip through some slides--but all very cool and quite talented and knowledgeable panel!)
- Movies Everyone Disagrees with You On (I got to rant about how much I dislike Man of Steel and the panelists thought I had a smart, funny, and unique take, so that's always fun! Plus, another audience member vented about her dislike for Ferris Bueller's Day Off and I was so relieved SOMEONE else agrees with me on that one)
- Fan Series: Show and Tell at the Tavern Round Tables (TBH, we couldn't find folks doing this, but it was a fun idea, and we chatted with some folks at the Tavern)
- Cosplay Karaoke (such a good time! Plus, I sang "Pokémon Theme" by John Siegler and John Loeffler and the crowd more than joined in and congratulated me on doing a good job)
- Hear Me Out: Smash or Pass Edition (18 and over) (a wild and raunchy romp into the minds of fans)
- Music Bingo in The Yard (I would've been SO lost without my friend, but, alas, she couldn't turn my poor luck around--still fun though!)
- The Unparalleled Growth of Romantasy (so interesting! But I will note that the moderator was underprepared and didn't even know how long the panel was supposed to be, and I think the panel could've used more diverse voices)
- Chicago's Cosplaying Hotties Present... Pop The Fandom Balloon Panel (I found the premise a tad confusing in the C2E2 app description, but it was fun and I got to see someone dressed as Da Pope--although, I did not stay for the full thing, I think they could be great for a fascinating and interactive bookstore event)
- Women Supporting Women: A Cross-Generational Cosplay Conversation (I loved how this panel was organized and presented)
- Cosplay Crown Championship Regional Qualifier and US Finals (I watched at home and TBH I think that's the way to do it--so cool and impressive though!)
- Chicago's Haunted Funeral Homes, Cadaver Labs, and Final Resting Places (I definitely didn't absorb it all, but I learned a lot about the Eastland Disaster)
- Tyler Hoechlin Autographing Sessions (yes, you'll see that I said "sessions" instead of "session" and that's because he was very late to his first one (shit happens), so I had to leave and come back, but because I had been in that first group that didn't get an autograph, he took a selfie with me so that mixed with the fact that he's my #1 celebrity crush, means all was forgiven)
(Prompt by me)
