15 dramatic opening lines that start with "m"

I hope these are dramatic enough! My god, the king is dead! Macabre was just the appetizer. Manicured nails pierced alien flesh. Magical means would not save his life. Maternal instincts failed her utterly. Magnetic forces ultimately crushed his skull. Mature was too kind a word for the decrepit form before her. Melodic tunes lured her to sleep for the final time. Mercy was not in his vocabulary. Miracles were not her business, but she had to try. Morality had always been out of the question. Motivational posters had the exact opposite effect on the rebel army. Moving into the ancient home proved to be the nail in the coffin. Multitalented was not what you wanted in the assassin chasing you. Munificent funds could not save this child. (Prompt by Eleanor Pratt) "Queen HMM" by Harry McGregor . Time for some parties.  So Clayton has a party shirt Kameron and Clayton are so cute Wait will anyone at this bachelorette party speak Spanish? Sophie, you need to say that you need the dress ASAP Sigh...Nikki...dump him Wait, editors, why didn't we see this full scene with Ashley's friend Solly? Again, Citra, like Sophie, you should say you need a dress ASAP I died at Citra saying Sam looks like a vampire This pawn shop Sam and his mom are at sure has bright walls I don't like Sam's mom Okay I am sad for Manuel, but I'm still not over that Ashley hasn't even video-called his kids Brandi shimmying got me good This is pretty explicit So did this party bus just go in a circle? Okay drunk words are not always sober thoughts Wait Clayton has always  lived with his mom? Nikki's mom told Nikki's friend about the threesome thing? Nikki does look great Wait is no one concerned that Manuel's friend is passed out "somewhere"? Okay not sure what Manue...

15 things on my one shot idea: The "chosen one" has gone missing

So I wrote a list of  15 one shot ideas , then  narrowed it to five , and now I'm narrowing it to three and doing a pageish on each one. Did I miss your favorite? Let me know! Vibes : Avatar: The Last Airbender meets a bit of The Hunger Games How the party knows each other : They are an established adventuring party, but beyond that, relationships are up to the players. Opening scene : The party is ushered to a back room of a luxury inn where they see the beautiful Aba Avo fretting. She is fretting and clearly nervous. She bades the party to sit down and explains the situation. "The Qua Bo has gone missing. It is vital that we locate them. I need your help." A note on the town/city/village : The religious capital of the Catche Kingdom is the town of Guacaht, where the adventure begins. It's a large town with a lot of religious tourism and religious focus overall. It was recently at capacity with the Evokados Ceremony taking place. A note on the government : This is a ...

Starting my parental journey, part 3

You can  read part 1 here  and read part 2 here . Yesterday I had my baseline ultrasound. I was pretty nervous so I had my mom take me (and she very kindly got up early to do so). I also had a blood draw. If they had told me this was going to happen, I had entirely forgotten, but that's okay as I'm not really afraid of needles. The person who took my blood draw was kind and jovial, especially for it being so early in the morning for such a thing. Then came the ultrasound. I was nervous as my previous one had hurt a fair bit and I had even bled. This time though, I had taken some ibuprofen beforehand and I asked if I could listen to something during the ultrasound. It was surprisingly easier than my previous one. This was in part because of a smaller probe (why do we use larger ones if we can use smaller ones???), but I also think taking the pain meds and listening to The Real Housewives of Potomac  (my current reality show binge) helped some. The sonographer seemed to jud...

15 things on my one shot idea: The party is caught in a time loop leading to a mine explosion

So I wrote a list of  15 one shot ideas , then  narrowed it to five , and now I'm narrowing it to three and doing a pageish on each one. Did I miss your favorite? Let me know! Vibes : The Adventure Zone , but a little more serious How the party knows each other : They are an established adventuring party, but beyond that, relationships are up to the players Opening scene : It's a grand night at Ore Else. Barra Tava (see below) is in full form, serving more tables than anyone could imagine while keeping everything neat and jovial. As the party cheers to a night out, an explosion bursts through the back of Ore Else (which faces the mine opening), exploding the bar. Everything goes white. Suddenly, the party is back at the entrance of Ore Else and the clock is striking 10pm, the time they arrived at the tavern. However, they would all swear they had just cheersed to midnight. A note on the town/city/village : Minería is a mining town on the outskirts of the kingdom of Mullai...

Snippets, sixteen

Here are some short pieces based on things that have happened in my life recently. Inspiration I've been lacking inspiration lately. While I'm sparking some with my one shot (see below and other posts), it's been difficult to find a story idea I feel like writing. Most of my D&D ideas come from other media so it's kind of a rip off. For works I want to publish, I want to have something original, but when I think about what's original, my mind just goes blank. People ask what writing I'm working on and I just don't know. I want to publish a book one day, but I just don't have an idea. I have some pieces about my dad that I could string together, but they're only thematically connected (and one of my favorites blatantly uses "American Pie" as the skeleton which makes it [probably] unpublishable). If you have advice or prompts that might spark some inspiration for me, please send them my way. While I like doing these "Snippets," ...

15 things on my one shot idea: A new family member from an estranged side of the family has shown up at the door, asking for aid

So I wrote a list of 15 one shot ideas , then narrowed it to five , and now I'm narrowing it to three and doing a pageish on each one. Did I miss your favorite? Let me know! Vibes : Gothic novel mixed with elves How the party knows each other : They're a closely related family (the Rosewinds) that lives in town together (the town is also named after them [Windsport]). Some can be married into the family. Opening scene : The Rosewind family sits down to their weekly family dinner. Amidst the talking, a loud knock resounds through the poorly kept Rosewood. At the door is a face the entire Rosewind family recognizes, for an astonishingly similar one hangs in their hallway. The person at the door claims to be Frid Rosewind, from the eastern Rosewinds (whom the western Rosewinds lost touch with centuries ago). Frid shares his sob story of going against his family in a matter of political business and becoming estranged from them. Now finding himself destitute, he decided to seek out...

15 minutes of narrowing my 15 new D&D one shot teaser ideas

Here is my full list . Did I not beef up your favorite? Let me know! 2. The "chosen one" has gone missing Recently, the Evokados Ceremony has taken place and the new spiritual leader, said to bring about a golden age in the kingdom, was chosen by a set of symbolic trials. However, this new leader is a young child who is now nowhere to be seen. The first step will be to talk to the aging spiritual leader, said to be a great seer, or to talk to the child's parents. I imagine this one to be a bit of a cat-and-mouse game filled with puzzles and tough decision-making, ultimately making the party wonder what is the right course of action for this child and whether or not the child should be found or is even still alive. 5. Night has come to a kingdom that only experiences day...what or who comes with it? The Ghrian Kingdom has only known day for centuries. The Time of Night is an ancient tale meant to scare the kingdom's children. However, it begins to get less bright and l...

I chronicled the first 15 here .  A bat finger puppet A plastic Dr. Seuss fish A vanilla extract bottle repurposed to be a "Love Remedy" with a skull and crossbones which said "Warning: May cause death or black widowism" and "Intended for use by power-seeking wives only." Snippets, fifteen

Here are some short pieces based on things that have happened in my life recently. Anesthesia I will be undergoing anesthesia for an upcoming medical procedure. Not full anesthesia, just twilight sleep, but still I required an extra consult because of my BMI. I understand that because I'm a larger size that I may need more medication, but I've also learned that BMI is kinda not reliable so I wonder why they don't just say because of my weight there is a concern. I am also nervous about anesthesia because I was told I could wake up during it. I was told I'd be calm and maybe just feel cold. But I'm worried that I will be out of control. Books I love my books, but I have been neglecting some of them. Some have been languishing in boxes at my parents' house for who knows how long. I rediscovered them by sorting through which ones to keep. I decided to keep most (who is surprised?), but a few I decided could find new homes. They were books I either didn't rememb...

15 ways to support me on my parental journey

I posted yesterday and in August, 2023 about starting my parental journey. If you're wondering how you can support me, here are some ideas I have at the moment (though these may change and also don't feel pressured to do any of these things). Check in via text or DM so I can respond at my leisure (but please don't be insulted if I take a long time to respond) Help with arranging food for me (I know that when I get overwhelmed, I often have really awful eating habits) Offer to help with apartment chores (I may turn you down, but the offer will mean a lot) Walk Hoban (I realize only some people can do this, but the relief of lightening the responsibility of Hoban will likely be welcome) Be understanding if I have to cancel plans (I hope to still be somewhat social during this time, but I cannot guarantee how I'm going to feel) Drive me to appointments (I have the retrieval itself covered, but I have other appointments that will happen leading up to it so if you have the...

Starting my parental journey, part 2

You can read part 1 here . Yesterday I began the next step of my parental journey. Ironically, it was starting birth control. This medicine helps prepare my ovaries for the egg retrieval process. It was weird taking the pill to prepare for my fertility journey because you typically think of the pill as ensuring you don't get pregnant. Obviously, I'm not getting pregnant now, but I am getting ready for that eventual possibility. There have also been various bureaucratic issues that I've been dealing with. Mostly insurance stuff (as I'm sure comes as no surprise). But, thanks to a new benefit at work that started 1/1/24, my journey will be (mostly) covered. While, again, there were some bureaucratic hurdles that I had to overcome in order for this to all work out, I am immensely glad that it did work out. I am nervous though. In part I'm nervous about a lot of the practicalities of this step in my journey. For instance, I will have to inject myself with various medica...

Thoughts on 90 Day Fiance season 10, episode 12

Not sure what's on this time because last time we just got "this season on..." I agree, that wasn't cooking, Sophie Yike this kitchen is dirty Rob is rude How are they picking up Sophie's mom in this car? (ah, they're not) Cool, Gino It's so jarring for me when Gino and Jasmine are being cute It's confusing how Sam got the visa for Citra given his record Justin/Igor...are you suggesting a threesome? (yes) Is Justin/Igor holding a plush cartoony ostrich? Aw it's sweet to see Manuel with a friend Boo, TLC! I don't care how long Clayton hasn't had sex "[Anali said] I dance like a tree"--Clayton Sophie's mom (Claire) and Rob do not vibe Ashley and Manuel cannot communicate well (and they should've talked about money stuff before getting to this point) Jasmine, I've said it before and I'll say it again: get thee to a therapist "Women are naturally manipulative"--Justin/Igor or Justin/Igor's friend (I misse...

Snippets, fourteen

Here are some short pieces based on things that have happened in my life recently.  Craving I've been craving things lately. Often, some dish. Lately, it's been Taco Bell (please don't judge). I think some of it might be I need more iron and protein in my diet and I crave beef (again, no judgment please, it's close, cheap, and easy). I also crave just being able to eat a lot in one sitting. I rarely get full, but I can sometimes get satisfied and that is so pleasant. I also have been craving excitement. This is more difficult to come by as I'm very measured and careful. This doesn't mean I never get excited to, say, see my friends and family, but it does mean that I rarely get really jazzed about something. When I feel my brain light up, I treasure it and I reward it when it does. This sometimes means I give into a craving for new pajamas or a new plant or, as I mentioned before, Taco Bell. Dancing A friend recently invited me dancing and I politely declined. Da...
